It stuns me reading and seeing all the mainstream media stories that Trump’s speech is covered as if it were given by a normal president.

It was in fact an incoherent mess of bragging, recriminations, lies, vague promises and general nonsense delivered by a mumbling idiot caked in orange make-up.

Watch it if you don’t believe me.

Until these rants are covered accurately, I don’t have much hope for American media.

For example, this NY Times headline conveys nothing of the utter lunacy of the speech. An unsuspecting reader might think it was along the lines of, say, an Obama or a Reagan speech.

It’s LIGHT YEARS away:

“Trump Claims Military Success but Offers No Clear Timeline to End Fighting
In a 19-minute address from the White House, President Trump said the U.S. would hit Iran “extremely hard over the next two to three weeks,” but did not make any revealing announcements.”

@samlitzinger

I'm not even going to bother to look at what the NYT has to say about Trump's rant. I can't stand the NYT's pandering to that miserable @#$%^&^%$#!

@samlitzinger I'm done with American mass media. I simply don't bother with mainstream/legacy media any more unless it's for confirmation on something.

Independent media is the journalistic soul of the US. Mainstream media no longer has any.

@samlitzinger this is exactly the right take. It’s so obvious he’s insane and lies all the time and yet none of this context is acknowledged

@samlitzinger

It stuns me that Trump’s speech is covered as if it were given.

@samlitzinger I just finished lstening to his performance. He did good job of reading script, less boring than his other teleprompter readings. (Trump really comes to life when he can ad-lib and speak about windmills or now his ballroom and fancy curtains)

Though the white house should really publish the bloopers for this pre-recorded episode.

You are very correct that media are gullible when it comes to claims of totall destruction by a White House with 0 credibility.

@samlitzinger one thing about journalism & media people overlook is that nobody gets paid to tell the truth, but to construct & own a narrative.
@samlitzinger I don't watch or listen to Trump because he doesn't speak a word of truth. I only read the media headlines after the fact. I don't care what the U.S media report -- it will all be spreading Trump's gospel since they don't want to incur his wrath. Go offshore if you want real reporting about what is going on. .

German Major TV Channel News:

This is how Trump is lying in order to attack US letter voting. (Fact checking in German)

So lügt Trump, um die US-Briefwahl angreifen zu können

https://www.zdfheute.de/politik/ausland/trump-luegen-briefwahl-faktencheck-100.html

Ok, we also have issues where the mainstream media is simply following the "narrative" - like "former president of Venezuela" or "arrested", but still..

@samlitzinger Trump isn’t smart enough to to be a president. He has the mental capacity to of a frog.
@valhoga01 @samlitzinger I’m pretty sure you just insulted a poor frog.
@samlitzinger I used to keep a spreadsheet with over 1,000 media organizations and journalists covering Michigan. Then I started adding information on who owned them. It seemed like a dozen corporations owned the media organizations. Most of these are owned by a few right wing oligarchs. Reporters know that if they depart from what their employers want, they won't have a job. So, I don't see many willing to go against their employers.
@samlitzinger I appreciate that CBC here in Canada tries to keep a level head while reporting on events but its obvious every time they report on Trump from the little comments that they're having a hard time with that.

Trump to deliver a primetime speech about U.S.-Israel war on Iran at 9 p.m. ET | CBC News

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Wednesday that Iran is seeking a ceasefire, hours ahead of his primetime speech to the nation to provide an update about the ongoing war.

Trump’s primetime speech on Iran war: Key takeaways

US president says Washington is ‘getting very close’ to achieving goals as he promises to bomb Iran into ‘Stone Ages’.

@samlitzinger

I did not see it (and cannot stand more than 15 seconds of him) but apparently it went as expected…

This serial lying con artist should never have been in the White House.

@samlitzinger
You could just hold up a still of Trump with the caption "Trump said a thing." and it would have more factual content than the thing Trump said.

@samlitzinger ... and the U.S. as a whole and maybe the world.

Unforunately, it might be true: the failure of the media for decades now may be one of the main causes of the ugly mess we are experiencing.

@samlitzinger

you still had hope for american media?

lmfao

people really cling to instutions and norms, even when theyre long dead and dismantled.
.. is one thing i've learned from this admin

@samlitzinger like I get that being neutral is a valuable thing in media but maybe they need to offer more disclaimers about the likelyhood of anything he has said being true based on the rate of things he has said that are true vs false
@samlitzinger Yeah...unfortunately most of the press has been captured or kneel to this BS fascist shit. CBS is run by Bari Weiss now. It ain't looking good especially if you just watch mainstream stuff. Ground.news is still pretty good at looking at multiple angles of news articles and seeing what you might be missing IMHO.
@samlitzinger Same experience here in UK. At present the first words out of the radio speaker in daily BBC news bulletins are, invariably, "President Trump". Setting aside that the BBC is being sued by him (in Florida!?) for alleged defamation (editing in a panorama programme about his tacit incitement of capitol riot), the editors hang on his daily utterances as if tablets passed to Abraham. Yes it is important, but the context, his incoherence, is left for the listener to deduce.
