Vancouver Island marmots will soon come out of hibernation. Some colonies are located on ski hills so they close the ski resort for a few weeks in April.
This marmot is endemic to Vancouver Island. It's an endangered species that is making a remarquable recovery thanks to marmots.org

@CatherineBabault I love them so much. The vancouverensis and olympus (Olympics-specific) marmots are my fave.

After spending 30 days in a year on glaciers in 2019 I really came to appreciate them.

@badsamurai It's pretty special to spot a Vancouver Island marmot as they are about 400 of them and they live in alpine meadows.
