I think this is a suitable moment to share this post and very interesting interaction with the autistic community about the difference between mansplaining and autistic info dumping again.
During the last month, I had two very different experiences when asking the people on Mastodon for advice.
When I asked the Linux community for advice, everyone was very kind, supportive and helpful. It's an amazing community and I am still so grateful for that delightful experience.
When I asked the German-speaking community for advice, because I was looking for an instance I can recommend to my friend, there were helpful, kind and supportive people too and in the end I got the invitation for a suitable instance. But there were also people mansplaining to me, giving "advice" that was not based on facts, but their personal limited experiences they perceived as universal truth. I didn't ask for it in my post, it was disrespectful and draining. I had to block a mutual, a member of the autistic community and that's always difficult for me. Reading my former post about mansplaining again was an important part of understanding why I had to make this decision.
