Ich liebe ja mein #Fairphone aber was die da mit den (kleinen) #Fairbuds angestellt haben ist ja absoluter Mist. Hardware ist super, aber die Software ist auf allen Ebenen vermurkst. (1/3)

Die Begleitet-App kann nicht viel und dafür stecken extrem viele Fehler drin. Ein Firmware-Update klappte bspw. nur mit einer sehr alten Version der App. Manchmal geht die App auch einfach gar nicht.

Hinzu kommt, dass bewusst hochwertige Audiocodecs, die die Hardware unterstützt nicht aktiviert wurden. Das hört man leider auch häufig durch digitale Artefakte im Klang. Vor allem in den Höhen. Immerhin am PC kann ein hochwertigerer Codec ausgewählt werden. Der wird aber auf Android nicht unterstützt. (2/3)

Ab Werk und in den Voreinstellungen der App ist der Equalizer komplett fehlkalibriert. So, als ob niemand vor Verkauf mal den Klang probiert hat. Sie klingen wirklich furchtbar ab Werk. Die Höhen fehlen komplett. Das zeigen auch Messungen aus der Community.

Ein paar Tüftler haben herausgefunden, dass der Equalizer viel mehr kann, als in der App angeboten wird. Mittels Klangmessungen konnten sie so ziemlich gute Einstellungen finden. Der Klangunterschied ist wie Tag und Nacht. Aus dumpf wird kristallklarer Klang.

Die alte Version der App hatte immerhin einen 8 Band Equalizer. Bei der neuen Version sind es deutlich weniger. Das macht das Kalibrieren ohne Zusatztools der Tüftler unmöglich. Oder man muss (wie ich) die alte Version installieren. (3/3)

If you have #fairbuds (the small ones), you should definitely use https://jurf.github.io/fairbuds/ to finally get the awesome sound quality, that the hardware can actually provide. I can recommend the custom EQ preset from soundguys. It's mindblowing compared to the default ones from #fairphone

🤞 Hopping that #Fairphone will update their unefficient app to include the full spectrum of the #fairbuds!

(I had to reactivate Chrome on my phone, because Firefox do not include a Bluetooth API)

After a day listening to my #fairbuds it's crazy how the sound is improved with this tool. Every Fairbuds owners should know that!

Before, I felt the sound of the fairbuds was mediocre, but then, it is quite good... Very very good indeed.

It is sad that #Fairphone people are not able to update the official app to do that.

Technical parameters of the Fairbuds EQ profiles

Hi, before contacting support I wanted to try my chances here. Does anyone, perchance, know the technical parameters of the Fairbuds (v67) EQ profiles (i.e. frequencies, Q-values, gain)? There is a noticeable change in the audio that I cannot match by ear, even when matching volume across all the frequencies. It would really help me tune them. I already made great progress, but I cannot fine-tune it without the parameters, as the RTINGS frequency response curve – which I use as a base for opti...

@benkuly I don't understand how these things haven't gotten a single firmware update since release...
I so desperately want an option to turn off the touch controls from time to time. (Sometimes when I'm using them with a coat hood, the touch keeps accidentally activating when I don't want it)

On one hand, this is really nice.
On the other, it’s frustrating to see how much potential Fairphone wastes by not releasing ther software as open soure and seemingly not even owning or controlling it.

From the outside, it feels like they either don’t invest enough in software or are getting ripped off by their contractors.
