Being open about my identity attracts some of the worst people. YouTube comments can be ugly, especially when discussing anything that does not pertain to cis white men.

Today, I dealt with a private message on Mastodon that forced me to learn the term "sealioning."

Wikipedia defines it as "a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence... while maintaining a pretense of civility... likened to a denial-of-service attack targeted at human beings."

It is bad faith exhaustion tactics. If you see it, do not engage.

Wow, good to know that term. I've experienced it in person.

In all fairness, that human did just lay our some prejudiced stuff about sea lions without a proper reason. All they had to do is either give evidence, or admit they were wrong. For the record, I think sea lions are beautiful creatures.

@puikepuck

I think I found the sea lion's alt account!

@terminaltilt
sealions are always acting in bad faith and i usually block and move on.

you can tag sealion or 9replyguys though, abusive people hate being called unoriginal.
