That's a great question. Something to dig into on my next visit!
Also, whether it was on purpose.
I mean, in many of the palaces and fortresses the blocks go down meters and meters to prevent sappers tunneling.
Here? I'm guessing if it does go down, it's rebuilding piled on remenants from fire or natural disaster. 🤔
