Taking the #Fedora 44 Prerelease for a spin on the ThinkPad (Ryzen 7840U / Radeon 780M) and the KDE Plasma Edition is looking absolutely phenomenal!

A few shiny upgrades making me very happy right now:

Plasma Login Manager (PLM) replacing SDDM. 1.25x fractional scaling is finally flawless right from the login screen!

DNF5 + PackageKit integration making Discover incredibly snappy.

Native NTSYNC kernel module loaded and ready for even better performance in Proton gaming.

@Larvitz BTW, isn't COSMIC already in the main repo, or is it still depending on someone's COPR?
@jimedrand Appears to be in the repos:
@Larvitz Finally, I am not worried anymore about upgrading on my sister's laptop with Fedora. Thanks for answering!
@jimedrand I haven't tried it out. But there's cosmic packages in the f44 repositories ..

@Larvitz

I’m already looking forward to the new version especially #GNOME50. Thanks to #Silverblue, updating my home system should go smoothly.

@tux KDE has better gaming performance and support for all the nice gaming technologies ootb (variable refresh rate, freesync, HDR..)

@Larvitz

I don't think that will make any difference with #GeForceNow in the #Chrome browser. 😊

@Larvitz that wallpaper in the screenshot looks col. Where can I find it or is it part of fedora?
@Larvitz what advice would you give to someone who is a linux mint cinnamon user who wants to try fedora KDE but be overwhelmed by how different it is compared to mint? I tried fedora KDE sometime ago but didn't stick with it due to how different it was from linux mint and the cinnamon desktop. What are some things that can make it easier to switch or try fedora?

@Larvitz Nice ... might tempt me back from Cachy on my laptop. Desktop is still Fedora 43, so that will upgrade when the time comes.

Hmm, only ROCm 7.1 on 44?? That's a shame, but I appreciate ROCm is a fast moving target right now.

@Fishd 7.1.1 here:

~ ❯ dnf list --installed | grep rocm-runti
rocm-runtime.x86_64 7.1.1-6.fc44
rocm-runtime-devel.x86_64 7.1.1-6.fc44
