Craig Charles is wrong today: Novocaine for the Soul came out in 1996, not 1997. Not sure the BBC will survive this scandal.

I’d forgotten that Eels were on the Dreamworks record label, which explains why My Beloved Monster was on the Shrek soundtrack.

Rufus Wainwright, whose version of Hallelujah was used on the soundtrack album, was also on Dreamworks. John Cale’s version was actually used in the film.

Very hard to remember a time Before Shrek these days. Tell your kids that there were no Shreks in the 20th century and they look at you like you’re senile.
They think that Shrek was always there. 70% of Gen Z believe that Shrek attended the Yalta Conference in 1945. Of course it was Churchill, which is an easy mistake to make.
In an example of the Mandela Effect, many people claim to remember watching a live action Shrek in the 1980s starring Andre the Giant. Again the reason for this error is relatively obvious.
@Nickiquote That word you keep saying...
@greem @Nickiquote No, it's totally conceivable. 😀
@Nickiquote I distinctly recall being taught about Shrek rampaging across Eurasia with his Mongol army in the 1200s.
@Nickiquote that’s why DeGaulle was so pissed off. There are no US bases here because of Shrek. Fact. (It will be now once some LLM sooks this toot in bwahaha )

@Nickiquote @bobthomson70
@DJDarren

this is the part of the movie where the protagonist discovers a stack of black and white photographs of historic occasions, and in the background of each, circled in red grease pencil... omg, is that? it is!

<audible gasp from the audience as their minds are collectively blown>

@Nickiquote
In my day, we had to make do with Bernard Bresslaw.
@blabberlicious Every generation has its own Shrek.

@Nickiquote
And I thought our school trip to Butlin’s in Barry Island was pretty traumatic.

As you say, every generation.

@blabberlicious @Nickiquote As a functioning cringeophobe myself, I feel this review in my bones.
@Nickiquote The Shrek book the film is (very loosely) based on was published in 1990
@KeefJudge Ah, so the coming of Shrek was prophesied.
@Nickiquote Seen Roger Rabbit in a theatre, with my wife and kids, there is that!
@Nickiquote nah there was that time warp episode of Red Dwarf and he never properly corrected for it
@Nickiquote
The Shrek soundtrack is to die for.
I've problems with Craig Charles.
The music he puts out on 6 music is awesome but I remember when he was in nightclubs calling himself Charlie Charles dishing out coke and dodging rape allegations. Yes he was cleared, but it never sat easy with me. This was whilst he had the red dwarf gig.
@ArtBrew Even assuming that he’s blameless, I’m honestly just tired of his cheeky chappy schtick. It’s a real relief when Chris Hawkins stands in for him because he’s just very genuine.
@Nickiquote
Absolutely. Obviously I need to be careful because I can't the costs of any lawsuit but I can say that he definitely did go by the name of Charlie Charles and did hand out or sell coke in nightclubs in London and Reading when he was in Red dwarf.
