You know what would be cool? If people would acknowledge that Microsoft has no fucking idea how their own shit works and stop giving them the benefit of the doubt, especially with things like consent and AI.
Don't get me wrong here, it's not just Microsoft. They just happen to be the ones making the most egregious promises at the moment. But all tech vendors are in the same bucket. Cloud vendors, firewall vendors, software vendors, all of the tech industries.
@cR0w The fact that Microsoft is using Claude internally for coding says it all.
@AAKL The fact that Microsoft keeps fucking up everything they say and touch says it all.
@cR0w No argument there.

@cR0w @AAKL There is a story that when Steve Ballmer was ru(i)ning Windows development, one of Ballmer's friends asked for help with a malware-infested PC. Steve couldn't fix it, so he took it to work and plunked it down in front of the Windows dev team and said "fix this."

They could not fix it either.

Like much of the industry, they have created more complexity than they can manage, and they are just trying to keep the piles from falling down on their heads. We need a radical simplification.

@cR0w I've empirically verified that "I'd have to expect better for you to disappoint me" generates an awkward face from your MS rep.

@cR0w

Do you consent?

"Yes" vs "Maybe later"

Is not consent🤦

@cR0w

Shrug. This Indian left the reservation a long time ago.

@cR0w I haven’t been doing this for very long, but it seems like that should be painfully obvious to anyone who has ever attempted to read their documentation.
