Ariadne reviews KubeCon booths, a thread
JFrog: 8/10, nice neon accents on the floors. solid design.
ScaleOps: 7/10, leans heavily into the Tron motif. maybe too heavily?
Teleport: 9/10. very purple.
wiz: 9.5/10, reminds me of blockbuster video which means I'm old. minus half a point because they have a harry potter movie pun.
futbol precision lab: idk I don't care about futbol
minimus dart game: 7.5/10, not real darts but the fun police probably wouldn't have allowed that anyway
Dell: 9/10. they have cute servers on display. may be biased because ariadne.space runs purely on Dell infrastructure
Google cloud: 7.5/10, reminds me of an apple store.
AWS: 8.5/10, interesting concept, also the booth design has more soul than the Google one
red hat: 9.5/10, but they always have a good booth game
Suse: 8/10. they have a robot dog.
datadog: 9/10. cool use of vertically mounted displays
vmware: 6/10. as bland as the parent company.
Nutanix: 7.5/10, bland design but at least they're not owned by broadcom
isovalent: 8.5/10, but I will upgrade them to a 10/10 if they give me the crochet bee plushie
dash0: the booth is ok but the jumpsuits really bring them to a 9.5/10
flyte: their mascot reminds me of spyro the dragon. 9/10.
Pagerduty: I like the swag claw machine. they have a huge line so I won't be trying it. cool neon floor accents like jfrog. 8/10
open observe: they blasted my eardrums out the other day because they don't have a dbx unit. however the video wall and the beach theme are cool. 8.5/10.
minimus: good use of neon accents. overall a solid booth design. 9/10
ASML: I got to talk shop about extreme ultraviolet lithography. infinity out of 10.
isovalent hooked me up with a eBPF keychain, upgraded to 9.998/10
sonatype: bowling alley theme is cute, 9/10
chainguard: digging the IKEA Kallax storage unit aesthetic. 8.5/10
teleport: the use of architectural elements to create nooks is cute. but the space is underutilized. 8/10.
komodor: digging the comic book theme, 9.8/10
Grafana: the gayest stickers at kubecon. also the 3D printer demo is always cool. 10/10
i would have rated the edera booth but it seems unfair to rate your own booth etc.
(technically we had two booths. we went hard this year because i'm not going to the fucking promised land)
@ariadne I wish I was there to rate it! I'm currently in recovery after surgery or I'd be there :(
@ariadne if you want gayer stickers I'm open to putting requests in with the marketing team. Though I'm still trying to get them to make Grafana dog collars, so I'm clearly not winning at making the place even gayer.
@ariadne I got some dangly 3d printed earrings from them at SCaLE a few weeks ago! (And some gay stickers of course)
@ariadne EUV may not even be the most insane thing about making chips anymore https://social.treehouse.systems/@dysfun/116292410271641693
@ariadne would've expected them to have the robot dog, tbh
@ariadne it can even drag it's arse on the carpet like a real dog?
@ariadne
Is the robot dog butt-scooting because it has robot worms?
@ariadne is it running kubernetes
@xyhhx great question, didn't ask. it had a remote controller so I suspect not
