Alright fedi, I have another one for you.

What's your favorite Linux tablet (or tablet that I can install Linux on) that you draw on? I'm specifically looking for something I can run Krita on and use for that purpose, but I would also use it for reading ebooks/comics.

It has to be fully independent, so no computer required. It has to have to have an HD screen. It has to run Linux, preferably Debian, as that's my favorite. It can't just be an android tablet unless it's possible to install Linux on it.

For context, I'm going to give up my ipad with apple pencil and want to replace that experience.

Bonus points if it comes with a stylus, but if not, please recommend one.

The StarLite mkV from @starlabssystems

I have Debian on mine, no real problems. It's made for Linux.

@seindal @starlabssystems oh cool! I am looking at their website now and this looks really cool!

Thank you for the recommendation! Did you buy their stylus too? Also, did you have to follow any specific guide for putting Debian on it?

StarLite 12.5-inch

Its fanless design ensures your StarLite will never make more than a whisper - unless you want it to. The Mk V supports coreboot open source firmware which you can effortlessly configure to your preferences via our coreboot configurator.

I have the Star Labs tablet too and it was dead simple to install Debian: just like on any PC. The volume and power buttons let you into the (UEFI?) firmware in case you need to boot from a different device.

I don’t know anything about drawing on it, though. I bought it because I kept using a mouse and external keyboard with my laptop, and decided to use them with a tablet instead.

@petes_bread_eqn_xls @seindal @starlabssystems Quick question: how long have you had it? And is any of the hardware replaceable or serviceable in any way?

@jessebot @seindal @starlabssystems

I’ve owned it for a year. StarLabs has a guide for taking it apart on their website

@petes_bread_eqn_xls @seindal @starlabssystems oh awesome, thanks for letting me know! 🙏 I'm definitely leaning towards a starlite right now :)
@starlabssystems Do you offer any sort of discount codes for first time buyers? 🥺
@jessebot
Aww, we wish we could! No discount codes at the moment, but we promise our devices are worth every penny :)
@starlabssystems no prob! I ordered one!
@jessebot
That’s great to hear! Enjoy your new StarLite :)
