For all the #KubeCon people surprised by the snow this morning, it might be good to know that #TheNetherlands has a 6 month winter period with 3 parts.

1st winter (Nov-Dec): cold, cute, christmas lights, holidays. 🎄

2nd winter (Jan-Feb): darkness, depression, despair. 💀

3rd winter: (March-April): spring, hope, a glimmer of- SIKE HERE'S ANOTHER COLD FRONT AND MORE WET SNOW YOU SWAMP PEASANT 🌨🌨🌨

@Gina Solidarity with our Dutch cousins…

Love, the UK

@not_a_label @Gina solidarity with our Dutch and British cousins... love, northern France 🥲

@_elena @not_a_label @Gina Ah, that's like the linguistic diversity of the Inuit, who supposedly have so many words for snow.

We only have one part and only one word for it.
It's called: MATSCH! 🫩

Solidarity with our Dutch, British, and French cousins… love, Germany. 😘

@Gina This is painfully accurate.

@Gina There is a reason our most important app is ‘buienradar’, or precipitation radar.

It’s for planning bike rides in between downpoor…

@Gina That sounds pretty good to me...

I'm used to schools and public transport preemptively stopping because the weather forecast said there was a small chance of snow. Then....

Absolutely nothing happens. Not even some pathetic wet snow 😕

@Gina sometimes all three winter types occur in the same day 😄

Condolences from the UK 🥶
@Gina This has a remarkable resemblance to Minnesota Winter … though 2nd winter for us is punctuated by “it’s so cold the Fahrenheit and Celsius scales have converged, if you have more than 2 square inches of skin exposed when you go out we’ll discover your frozen corpse in spring”
@acsawdey I'll add it to my list of places to never visit 😁
@Gina my favorite saying from my time in The Netherlands: “If you’re lucky, Summer will come on a Saturday “.
@Gina @dtabb73 Surprised that no one has commented with this common meme yet, which everyone always copies and edits their own city name into. LOL.
Seems you are in your 3rd winter phase now.
