I agree with Donald Trump on just one thing. I too am sick and tired of hearing the words “affordability crisis.” It’s total bullshit. We have a late-stage capitalism crisis, and a dozen euphemisms aren’t going to solve it.

When decision makers say they cannot afford such and such, they should give an impact assessment on not funding properly. Often that would invalidate the affordability claim.

The Democratic Party leadership has latched on to the phrase. They think voters are too dim to understand anything beyond this month's bills Our party leadership still thinks Bill Clinton's policies will win voters back, and that Mitch McConnell can cooperate in good faith. They look at Mamdani's campaign and think "How can we prevent this from happening again?"
