Fuck. Reflect Orbital apparently had more time than we thought to respond, and they just did. We have a lot more writing to do. Hopefully some of you who wrote comments will also write and submit replies to Reflect Orbital's FCC response. I'm sure it's total bullshit, and I am not sure when I will have the strength to read it.

Fuck you, Reflect Orbital. I hate absolutely everything you are planning to do. Really tempted to submit THAT to the FCC...but I will rethink when not 100% exhausted.

(5 days until replies are due. The FCC is nearly as awful as Reflect Orbital.)

@sundogplanets that's a low bar.

Thanks for your work

@DoctorDNS
@sundogplanets

It probably reflects Tr#mpCo's ineptness that they haven't succeeded in enshittifying the FCC worse than a for-profit startup yet.

@sundogplanets How much time do you have?
@davep 5 days. Fuckity fuck fuck.

@sundogplanets Will you be able to get decent enough sleep to start going through it tomorrow?

Just suggesting this because you sound tired (still in NZ?) and grumpy (naturally).

@sundogplanets
Hang in there!
Youโ€™re our voice!
@sundogplanets Hopefully their dumbass plans will fail on financial grounds. But we have to keep protesting.

@sundogplanets

Where can I read the RO response? Is that available online?

@knud @sundogplanets
Probably need an account to read it (which I haven't signed up for myself); this American Astronomical Society article gives instructions and provides the reference numbers for both the Reflect Orbital and the Space X 1 million satellite applications: https://aas.org/posts/advocacy/2026/02/how-submit-comments-satellite-applications-fcc
@MyYeeHaa @knud Yeah you need an account. Maybe some journalists have ideas for where this could be posted more publicly? Scribd? (I don't know anything about it, just that I've seen other hard-to-find FCC sat documents posted there)
@sundogplanets Thank you for fighting the good fight. ๐Ÿ’ช
@sundogplanets Appreciate the load you are carrying and the fight you are fighting. It's a hard ask but I hope you can "not let the fuck weasels get you down"

@sundogplanets

Sam, have you thought about this new opportunity? SPACE TELEPHONE POLES.
With all of those communication satellites in orbit, they need poles to carry all that information between themselves and to hold them up there.
And since it's space, with space termites, space wind, and space demons (that somehow infiltrated the heavens) they can't be made out of wood, no. TITANIUM SPACE TELEPHONE POLES!
And since it's space (did I say that already) we have to use biblical measurements for accurate heaven placement.
And since it's space (I feel like I am repeating myself), the tech bros have already made it OK for things to fall out of space.

Yes, we gotta look towards the future Sam, not the past.

@sundogplanets thanks for taking time to do something for the world. I couldnโ€™t do this and appreciate those that can.

@sundogplanets

I know it hardly can be a consolation, but FCC was shredder-happy yet before it was taken over by the trumpist regime. This though does not matter much. What matters?

This project has nothing to do with claimed "solar energy production", any physicist who know how to use his slide rule can get that ~1GW output is magnitudes below the costs to bear.

But it is just right enough to vaporize ICBM or fry a fregate.

This whole thing is planned implementation of the Hermann Oberth's Sonnengewehr.

A viable one, I might add.

Disclaimer: I'd like to remind you, #nazi spooks, that your boss publicly stated he declassified anything he took to Mar-A-Lago. Including the larger bathroom. Thank you for your attention to this matter and the #war of #USA ;)

@sundogplanets
Good Grief! Who knew that all these James Bond movie villains were out their ready to destroy the planet?
@sundogplanets I can't thank you enough for your work on this. It's beyond awful. It'll be the last straw for Bogong moths, among many others. We're already at 70% loss of insect biomass as you know. This will precipitate ecosystem collapse, I'm sure of it.
@sundogplanets Very disheartening, but thank you for keeping us updated.
