Things hard to differentiate, as it seems:

A software getting a new onwer does not make the software insecure, non-free, or otherwise bad.

A tool getting a new database field does not make the tool a surveillance tool.

---

A new owner changing the license of a software makes the software non-free.

A system operator abusing a database field for surveilannce makes them a supporter of surveillance.

#systemd #ruff

@nik The problem is that #SystemD even considered this #Cyberfascist shitshow, instead of Refusing to Comply as a matter of principle!

Not a fan of #VPNs but @mullvadnet 's right with their " #AndThen ?" #ad campaign…

@kkarhan @torproject @mullvadnet

It obviously was Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie who submitted to cyberfacsism when they added a real name field to passwd(5).

[systemd-devel] Fundamental concerns regarding the "birthDate" field in userdb

@nik @torproject @mullvadnet I find that too bad, but back then it made sense since usernames rarely were long enough and in the academic-scientific envoirment of #Unix (and most of the #Internet) #Anonymity and #Privacy weren't priorities at all back then.

  • But given today's context, thesse fields should not only be optional, but actually be expunged.
    • Or at the very least, one should not add anything to them that has no "legitimate reason" for it.

"#AgeVerification" is #Cyberfascist| Bullshit and it's being pushed by #NSAbook / #StasiBook / #Facebook / #Meta as means to kill competition like the #Fediverse!
