Trump promotes a new product label highlighting products made in the USA.

Unfortunately, the label will only be used in the US, so consumers in democratic countries will not be able to identify the Trump goods they want to boycott.

@randahl Mal sehen, ob das ein Qualitäts- oder ein Quantitätssiegel wird.
@randahl not "made in" but "of" which can mean almost anything. It is like the billion products manufactured in China and then sold as "Made by Sweden"
@kofzmann @randahl „Designed in Cupertino“ 😎
@kofzmann @randahl Depends how it will be defined. In Canada a product labelled “Product of Canada” has to be 98% Canadian. https://competition-bureau.canada.ca/en/how-we-foster-competition/education-and-outreach/publications/product-canada-and-made-canada-claims
“Product of Canada” and “Made in Canada” Claims

The Competition Bureau has published its enforcement guidelines in 2009. Following the passage of amendments to the Competition Act on June 23, 2022, the Bureau has updated them to ensure clarity and transparency for businesses.

@randahl "Made in" is enough for me to boycott.
@randahl people will take pictures and post them online, it'll be a really easy way to identify boycott items hahaha

@randahl

I'm surprised his face isn't embedded in the background of the label like the Russians did with those pallets of asbestos during his first term.

@randahl Versions of this have been around for decades, and other than being needlessly elaborate (and therefore probably also needlessly costy), this one's no different.

My understanding is that most internationally traded consumer products carry their nation of origin on them. You may have to read labels carefully. Some stores also put up signs. (I remember seeing those in Canada.)

@randahl meat, poultry and egg. Something we don't see in EU because they don't comply.
Other countries can use app like Boycatt to be sure not to buy them.
@randahl What can I say? It's for once a very much appreciated idea.
🙂

@randahl Remember how "made in Germany" was initially intended as a boycott label but became seen as a quality one?

This one will go precisely the other way round.

@randahl
Im sure a reference will pop up somewhere in the internet for the convenience of the appropriate product avoidance 😜

@randahl

It's only missing "WARNING" stamped diagonally across

Btw... Stickers are cheap to print!
