@fesshole Hey, I was just looking up the word "shibari" since you mentioned it. Turns out that 縛り (as it's written in Japanese) is made up of two main kanji, thread 糸 and the one for "speciality" 専. Oh, and it has an extra little ` on the top of speciality, kind of like a bead of sweat.
Anyway, the original character has nothing to do with bondage (not exactly, anyway--not in that sense) but I do note that it makes for an easy way to remember how to write it.
