Ok y’all, #Trump is rolling his #paramilitary out to travel infrastructure, putting #ICE on the ground of some airports, with threats to roll it out to all. But, Dear Leader told his thugs to take off their masks at the #airport. You know what this means? I want every single person who has to use an airport to take pictures and add them to the ICE agent database.

Why should you do that? Because hack unto them as they hack unto us. https://sahanjournal.com/immigration/ice-surveillance-technology-facial-recognition-phones-minnesota/

Secondly: If you are not American, DO NOT TRAVEL HERE. It is not safe for you. It isn’t safe for us, but it’s really not safe for you. Boycott us like we are contagious.

ICE isn’t just tracking your phone. The surveillance technology goes further than that.

Federal immigration agencies are using a vast surveillance network in Minnesota – from facial recognition technology to ‘stingrays’ that collect data by impersonating cell phone towers.

@MissConstrue

I do hope someone with talent is working on public safety minded improvements to this tech.
😼

Pictures of ICE basically getting in the way and getting Cinnabons. This show of force is such a clown show. Geezycreezy this administration is such an embarrassment.

I will just say here that I am not the gymnast I once was. I am padded by a comfortable life and a pastry hobby, and I have fought body issues my whole life, so as a rule I do not comment on bodies, but y’all...some of these guys couldn’t catch their breath, much less a high stepping criminal.

@MissConstrue immediately adopting the use of "pastry hobby" when self-describing
@giantspecks One of us, one of us, we accept you, one of us!
@MissConstrue it will be busses too, all to prevent people who use public transport from getting to thier polling place to vote

@Bredroll That *might* work in urban areas like NYC or LA, but out where i live, there is no public transportation. None. No busses, no trains, nothing.

And everybody is armed. Everybody. To quote some silly Sandra Bullock movie from the 90s "This is Texas. My florist has a gun."

Now, to be fair, most of them are yeehawdists, but...all of the trump flags around here are gone. The barn with the maga slogan has been repainted to barn colors. Even the blue line flags are gone. Punisher stickers taken off trucks.

#Epstein has caused a deep, deep rift in #maga. The #SAVEAct has pissed off every #GOP woman I know.

I have personally moved fully armed, long rifle carrying Proud Boys away from a polling station sidewalk, and I will be goddamned if I'll let a paramilitary of any flavor stop my fellow citizens from their appointed duties, and unlike 2016, 2020, and 2024, I expect rednecks to have my back this time. (Narrator: she's an optimist.)

@MissConstrue im not sure it will work, but it could have been the intention, make it harder for people to travel to vote, just another layer to dissuade people. Even if it just delays people, if you only have a half hour lunch break, adding 20 mins ICE-Bus check delay might make you think twice
@MissConstrue perhaps then also prevent private vehicle parking near polling places for 'security' too
@MissConstrue maybe if they did something like cancelling mail in ballots, this would also serve to intimidate anyone travelling home to vote from another state

@Bredroll I get that this is really terrifying. It is. We are in unprecedented times.

But, it's really important to not pre-fear ourselves. The things you suggest would be blatantly unconstitutional and thus far the courts are still functioning. (Supremes and one Circuit being the exception)

As the Aunties say; Don't borrow trouble.

If it is not happening, and plans to make it happen are not in motion, then it is not a thing to worry about right now. If it happens, we'll deal with it, but for now, other things *are* happening, and we need to deal with that.

I don't mean it as criticism, please don't take it harshly, I just mean, don't get yourself into a doomspiral of worry, it solves nothing and makes you feel bad.

@MissConstrue i don't take that as a criticism at all, I'm not American so my fears about this are far less existential (simply tragic, frustrating, hopeless, depression rather than terror and despair). I do think though that if I were determined to suppress votes from poorer people, then the Save Act with it's ID reqs plus ICE on plublic transport would compliment each other "legally" and serve to keep more people at home on vote day.

@MissConstrue A mass project to photo these shitheads could be named something like Flockofresistance or PeoplesPalantir.

That's how much power we have collectively folks-millions of cameras feeding a powerful, NI (natural intelligence) powered distributed database that cannot be taken down by an attack on any one node. All that intel power focussed like a laser on ICE today...

@LukefromDC I'm not part of the team doing this work, but yes, I do think redundancy should be imperative.
@MissConstrue Code Pink has issued a Level 4 (do not travel) travel warning against the US

@MissConstrue
Suddenly, the ICE thugs' excuse that they need anonymity to protect them from the radical left terrorists goes out the window at airports.

If they can stroll maskless through airports terrorizing travelers, they can show up maskless anywhere.

#FuckICE #AbolishICE

@shansterable Precisely so. AND #TSA would be getting paid if the #GOP would just agree to unmask the thugs.

@shansterable @MissConstrue

Trump will remove ice from the airports when Democrats agree to throw women under the bus so he can steal our votes. Trump wants the "save America" voter repression law passed. Just like he sent ice thugs into Minnesota so he could steal our voter roles, we have to resist until he stands down. If Democrat sacrifice women, we're gonna have a civil war.

@FranceskaMann @shansterable Even some republicans don’t want the save act. I, in all my glorious years, have never met a republican woman who kept her birth name. Not one. Most of them didn’t even hyphenate. Now granted, anecdotal and restricted to GenX and older, but that’s the demographic that reliably votes.

If the law passes, it will go into effect for the 26 elections, which isn’t enough time for counties to prepare and certainly isn’t time for people to find birth certificates, marriage licenses, divorce decree, etc., so many gop women will be shut out. Most people don’t know that REALID isn’t citizenship verification, and will be quite surprised to learn that they have to present in person at the county seat to register if this passes.

@MissConstrue @shansterable

My sister is a married republican woman who kept her birth name. So there's 1.

I took my husband's name. It was part of the reason I wanted to get married. I didn't want carry around my father's last name anymore. From the patriarchy to the patriarchy…I have my marriage license and birth certificate.

The media is not encouraging women to get paperwork now, before its too late :( just in case

@FranceskaMann @shansterable I have mine in a safe, because my SS name had my teenage bride married name, and in decades, I’d never bothered to change it, because I forgot it had been changed in the 80s. It wasn’t until RealID was a thing that I noticed that I had a different names on tons of documents.

Changing it with SS may have been a mistake though, because my entire earning history has disappeared, and I’ve been paying taxes since I was 14. Now that I’m almost old enough to retire, it’s all gone.

@MissConstrue @shansterable

That feels corrupt all the way through. Those transactions should be running through your Social Security number, not your last name. I hate Trump so much. He wants to steal everything from us.

@FranceskaMann It seems to have happened during the doge experiment. I've got someone trying to figure out how we solve it.
@MissConstrue be careful about giving advice like that - I'm not an expert and won't say what the law is exactly, but you can be arrested for taking photos of certain parts of an airport or the personnel - especially security - working there 👮

@codebyjeff Caution certainly is advised when dealing with la migra, but the ACLU has consistently opposed law enforcement misstatements that “since 9/11, no one can take pictures” of transportation infrastructure, and have won every challenge affirming the First Amendment right to photograph in public areas, including inside airport terminals.

That rule changes at the gate and ticket counter, where airline rules can forbid photos of their employees.

All that said, rights are no guarantee in America any more, so... proceed knowing risks is appropriate.

@MissConstrue Put a bunch of untrained rednecks with guns at airports. What could possibly go wrong?
@Kintarian Here, hold my beer, watch this...
@MissConstrue they are being forced to work tsa and they are dogshit at it so all wait times in the airport have over doubled because of them, too so I guess that gives more time to document them all lmao
@MissConstrue Heh. I was just thinking the same thing!
@MissConstrue I suppose it could be an excuse to confiscate one's phone and read all of one's "unAmerican" Mastodon posts (if one uses a phone for that purpose).
@DoomsdaysCW I don’t know if they can legally confiscate your phone, although legal doesn’t seem to mean anything these days. I would use a burner with an auto upload, were it me.
@MissConstrue [boost with cw: uspol, ice]
@MissConstrue this ice airport deployment is gonna be higely popular among the kidnappers 😅

@MissConstrue Genuine info request: I need to dissuade some relatives from visiting the US, but specifically #Hawaii.

We’re Australian. Family members that we often holiday with had a great time in Hawaii some years ago and were advocating we all go there. I said I’m not visiting the USA while Trump and the Trumpets are in power. #BoycottUSA.

They argue that Hawaii is different - and it *is* - the political/philosophical distance from Mar-a-Lago is matched by the physical distance. But it is nonetheless still a part of the USA. I can dream they might succeed, but that certainly isn’t the current case.

Admittedly, the idiot’s recent moves have kind of solved the issue in that the family also realises that Hawaii is a military target now (remember Pearl Harbour, etc.) - but I am keen on further information or anecdotes I can use to show them that Hawaii definitely counts as part of avoiding travel to the USA in these ridiculous times.

Hawaiians: sorry, while yours is one of the very few parts of the USA I might otherwise consider visiting, I have to rule out seeing your islands and people for the foreseeable future. I hope you understand.

@whybird Well, from a weather standpoint, one island is flooding, one is on fire, one hasn’t recovered from the wildfires, and now ICE is manning the airports.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Hawaii so much I didn’t move there, because it’s not my land, it’s stolen and we should give it back. Everyone should see its majesty and marvel at her wonders, but now isn’t good.

Check the weather, look at how Maui is recovering, and the volcanoes are angry. I’d wait.

@MissConstrue Thank you for your reply. Any trip we do make would be many months away.

Actually, given the fuel issue it seems even unlikelier now that we will fly anywhere at all, so it might all be moot for some time.

@whybird But when you decide to go, I recommend Maui as the most magical place on earth. I don't have it to hand, but there's a Hawaiian family owned hotel really close to the Black rocks. The same family has owned it since before the colonization. Three generations of my family have been recipients of their hospitality for more than 60 years.

It's not the fanciest, it's not a brand new resort, but everyone who works there is Hawaiian, and it's not owned by a faceless corporation. I'll dig up info for you if/when you want to visit.

@MissConstrue That sounds wonderful! Is it kid friendly? I’m guessing yes from the three generations comment :)
@whybird Yes it is, but by 3 gens, I meant my grandparents went when they were in their 40s, my parents went around the same age, and we went about the same age. The first two sets did not take children. I like mine, so I brought her. :)
@MissConstrue Four gens then!
(lol for the “I like mine” note!)
@MissConstrue
Of course we are boycotting you like you were contagious. THEY BOMBED A PRIMARY SCHOOL. Even the Nazis didn't do that.
@Tabitha_Ormiston_Smith We seem to be taking direction from Israel. To the shame of both.

@MissConstrue
Everyone should be turning off 2G if they can, whether they live in Minneapolis or not. It's straightforward for Android but for iPhone lockdown mode seems to be the only choice right now.

How to Disable 2G on Android Phone

Google has recommended its users to immediately turn off 2G on their phones. In this article, I have shared a complete guide on how to disable 2G on Android.

Techy Snoop

A suggested @theonion headline.

Sale of Ray Ban Meta Glasses increases 1,000% at US airports.

Free to use. You can't patent jokes.

@MissConstrue So, if we have people visit us from the USA, would it be doing them a kindness if we were to steal and destroy their passports so they can't go home?

@TimWardCam

I mean, if I could get out of here and get to there, I'd be willing to give it a shot to see what happened...but I'm pretty sure any EU govt would just deport me at visa end, with or without passport, and then I'd be in the clutches of ICE without any documentation, while tan and leftist.

My father's people fled the Netherlands after the patriarch was boiled for being an anti-monarchist at the time of William the Orange's return, but I do have someone looking into how difficult it would be to move to the there if I promise to not try to overthrow the monarchy.

I adore the Netherlands and her easy train access to the vast amounts of the civilized world. Museums and libraries as far as the mind can dream. Proper chocolate, good tea, cheese... (I miss living in Europe so much. So much.)
