Ok y’all, #Trump is rolling his #paramilitary out to travel infrastructure, putting #ICE on the ground of some airports, with threats to roll it out to all. But, Dear Leader told his thugs to take off their masks at the #airport. You know what this means? I want every single person who has to use an airport to take pictures and add them to the ICE agent database.

Why should you do that? Because hack unto them as they hack unto us. https://sahanjournal.com/immigration/ice-surveillance-technology-facial-recognition-phones-minnesota/

Secondly: If you are not American, DO NOT TRAVEL HERE. It is not safe for you. It isn’t safe for us, but it’s really not safe for you. Boycott us like we are contagious.

ICE isn’t just tracking your phone. The surveillance technology goes further than that.

Federal immigration agencies are using a vast surveillance network in Minnesota – from facial recognition technology to ‘stingrays’ that collect data by impersonating cell phone towers.

@MissConstrue it will be busses too, all to prevent people who use public transport from getting to thier polling place to vote

@Bredroll That *might* work in urban areas like NYC or LA, but out where i live, there is no public transportation. None. No busses, no trains, nothing.

And everybody is armed. Everybody. To quote some silly Sandra Bullock movie from the 90s "This is Texas. My florist has a gun."

Now, to be fair, most of them are yeehawdists, but...all of the trump flags around here are gone. The barn with the maga slogan has been repainted to barn colors. Even the blue line flags are gone. Punisher stickers taken off trucks.

#Epstein has caused a deep, deep rift in #maga. The #SAVEAct has pissed off every #GOP woman I know.

I have personally moved fully armed, long rifle carrying Proud Boys away from a polling station sidewalk, and I will be goddamned if I'll let a paramilitary of any flavor stop my fellow citizens from their appointed duties, and unlike 2016, 2020, and 2024, I expect rednecks to have my back this time. (Narrator: she's an optimist.)

@MissConstrue im not sure it will work, but it could have been the intention, make it harder for people to travel to vote, just another layer to dissuade people. Even if it just delays people, if you only have a half hour lunch break, adding 20 mins ICE-Bus check delay might make you think twice
@MissConstrue perhaps then also prevent private vehicle parking near polling places for 'security' too
@MissConstrue maybe if they did something like cancelling mail in ballots, this would also serve to intimidate anyone travelling home to vote from another state

@Bredroll I get that this is really terrifying. It is. We are in unprecedented times.

But, it's really important to not pre-fear ourselves. The things you suggest would be blatantly unconstitutional and thus far the courts are still functioning. (Supremes and one Circuit being the exception)

As the Aunties say; Don't borrow trouble.

If it is not happening, and plans to make it happen are not in motion, then it is not a thing to worry about right now. If it happens, we'll deal with it, but for now, other things *are* happening, and we need to deal with that.

I don't mean it as criticism, please don't take it harshly, I just mean, don't get yourself into a doomspiral of worry, it solves nothing and makes you feel bad.

@MissConstrue i don't take that as a criticism at all, I'm not American so my fears about this are far less existential (simply tragic, frustrating, hopeless, depression rather than terror and despair). I do think though that if I were determined to suppress votes from poorer people, then the Save Act with it's ID reqs plus ICE on plublic transport would compliment each other "legally" and serve to keep more people at home on vote day.
