A message especially for my Canadian male followers out there today, but it applies to all.

If you see a story from a woman calling out the behaviour of a man, believe them. Yes, believe them over the 'bro’, especially when there are multiple corroborating stories.

Don’t feign impartiality.
Don't ignore.
Just believe them, it's not that hard.
It's long past time we do this as the default.
It will make us all better in the long run.

That is all.

Privileging the veracity of one sex over the other is just incredibly dangerous. And this in a world rife with Pam Bondis and Laura Loomers.

Yes, take accusations seriously. Investigate. Try them in court. But to advocate for automatic guilty verdicts simply because "a woman" is pointing a finger at someone else is no "better" than sex-swapped Salem witch trials.

"Men can never be trusted but women always can" is the distillation here and that is nothing but performative nonsense.

Indeed, that makes it such a shame that we’ve been doing it so consistently for so long. So long and so deeply entrenched is that privilege that people make reflexive judgements without needing to bother with finding anything out. Making the attempt to invert that reflexive reaction seems like a good thing for the time being.
