Just to fill out my new CoSocial account a little, please enjoy these photos of a Canada Goose and goslings just *owning* a multi-use path, along with bikes parked at my favourite local independent grocery store. Note that my panniers are full 😀🚴‍♀️❤️

@uxMark I always look forward to gosling season, though I’m often late to the party. They are so much fun to watch!

(17? that’s a huge brood!)

@grammasaurus Right? And yeah, seeing that many cross my path is unusual 🚴‍♀️
@uxMark @grammasaurus It raises the question of how many goslings are in a normal clutch of eggs. Is this unusually large? I feel like I've never seen quite this many with only one parent around.
@SRLevine @grammasaurus I can’t recall, but there could have been another goose out of frame on the right.

@uxMark @SRLevine The most I’ve seen is 25, but with two adults, so I assumed it was more than one family. But some of the geese around here do have large families—a dozen babies isn’t unusual.

When I see a goose with only 2-3 babies, I assume she’s a first-time mom. There are lots of hazards to avoid: foxes, coyotes, turtles, bad weather, hawks and eagles….
