A #maths teacher in NW #England has been banned for 2 years for getting drunk at a workplace social outing to the point he consumed 10 pints ( 5760 ml ) of beer, attacked 2 police officers and a security guard, and got a suspended prison sentence!

He has to do 25 days rehabilitation activity and 200 hours of unpaid work.

you could make a maths question out of all this, but its probably a better lesson for PHSE and a warning of why overindulgence in #alcohol is a bad thing..

Teacher banned after drunken brawl at Chester Races

Declan Sealy drank 10 pints and bit a bouncer before being tear-gassed, a disciplinary panel hears.

@vfrmedia ten pints! he must have a bladder of steel.
@noctiluca and a long standing alcohol problem, but hadn't so far managed to act in a way that got him in serious trouble..
@vfrmedia he had a 2024 suspension for assault though...
@noctiluca it appears to be related to the same incident - it just took 2 years for the TRA to take action after the case in the criminal courts, and it seems the BBC are mixing up the date of arrest and charge with that of the subsequent Court case (the Press seem to do this all the time nowadays)

@noctiluca I found the full report, the 2024 dates all relate to the charges from the same incident (which occured in 2023)

@vfrmedia ahh I stand corrected!

@noctiluca its not your fault, more that of the BBC crime reporter for not researching dates correctly and/or seemingly being unaware of how the criminal justice system actually works in England and Wales (or no one actually checking up on whether these facts are correct).

As loathsome as they are, the Daily Mail do a way better job of getting crime reporting right (maybe because they are used to delving a *lot* deeper into the backgrounds of suspects and victims to the point it borders on what is legal/ethical, and they are thus *expecting* legal challenges for their reporting)
