I went to four stores in the South Seattle area looking for a zipper to fix a jacket.

Not one place had anything acceptable. The closest was small pocket zippers. There used to be a time you could go to a store and touch things, even purchase them outright.

Even online ordering is not easy. I just want a YKK #5 style antique brass zipper with pull and locks, 3 foot length tape.

If you know of anyplace let me know, please. #sewing

I'm not sure if this place only sells machines but at a sewing class in Tacoma we were told this was the best place to find a quality machine. Maybe they know someplace if they don't sell zippers.

@justin I should walk over there, it’s a couple blocks from my house and bought my current machine there. They do have some notions but a small supply and don’t recall zippers. I bet they could help me find some though.

I didn’t think of them right away because they are very much a machine shop but have a decent selection of quilting and embroidery stuff. I will pop in on Monday and check.

I do recommend the shop, they fixed up my singer for me before I figured out that the bernette craft 05 was a much better machine for the money. Very knowledgeable and quick on repairs.

@leerayl @justin very small notions section at that shop in renton (where I’ve gotten 3 machines). I assume you tried Pacific Fabrics? They do have 36” zip but zero chance they have that length along with the extra requirements. For this I do wawak

@Brodyberg @justin I have not but will check them out. I could get 36” lengths verse a longer roll. It seems the ends and stops are the hardest to find so far.

@leerayl @justin wawak has ends, pull and stop boxes which allow you to create many variations if that’s interesting. Sounds like you need one only though.

@leerayl @sbourne If it's a brass zipper, I take it it's the zipper puller that's broken? A puller is much easier to replace than the whole arrangement. Have you tried Ebay?

@TazPoltorak @sbourne I am missing teeth and it’s not repairable. Pulls seem easy to get ahold of. eBay has them but it’s not someplace I use. WaWak seems to be the online shop with options and Sail Rite also has them based on late night shopping with suggestions from the thread
