I had to read this three times, focusing on the first four words. It didn’t get any better.

@wendynather If your identity theft protection company suffers a data breach, what subscription service do they give you for free? Netflix?

@paco @wendynather

amazon gift cards?

of course, i hear they now require persona approved ID...

@wendynather and THIS is why I only use alias emails for certain online transactions.
@wendynather You gotta hand it them, at least they were dogfooding
@wendynather the jokes write themselves..
@wendynather And in my mind I can't stop thinking "WHY DOES THIS SURPRISE ANYBODY?!?!"

@wendynather

"botulism caused by food safety firm" would be a similar oopsie...

@cjust @wendynather

It's always nice to feel justified in your knee-jerk reaction to a youtube sponsor

@wendynather @BleepingComputer The best way to keep your data from being leaked is to not give it to anyone.

@wendynather definitely a “you had ONE JOB” situation

Other things I know about Aura

  • Robert Downey Jr was an investor and did ads for them
  • Over half a billion raised, Series G, yikes, they probably need an exit
  • This doesn’t actually impact their customers, but boy does it look terrible
  • If they’re anything like Equifax, they’ll make money off their own breach

    @wendynather it's one of those YouTube sponsor specials lol
