Elk

A nimble Mastodon web client

Elk
@ayo @elk It depends. @ivory is well integrated into iOS so I find it easier for sharing posts to and from fedi. I can't read a timeline without Ivory's advanced filtering now. But Elk is better at rendering Markdown and other fancy formatting that might be available on non-Mastodon servers. The perfect fedi client doesn't exist for me (yet).
@claudinec @ayo @elk Markdown/html format viewing is coming in the next update!

@ivory @claudinec @ayo @elk I hope for that since I started using Elk some years ago. It absolutely needs a toggle between rendered and raw Markdown.

Elk trying to be smart sometimes hinders me writing messages how I want them to be.

@dirk We don't support writing markdown yet as that isn't a feature of Mastodon yet. As soon as the API allows for it, we will add it. For now it's read only as it is in Mastodon.

@ivory What is the Markdown I enter is converted to, then?

I mean something is happening with the input, since it's shown as rendered before I send the message.

Having a way to switch between the rendered preview of the message and the text I entered would be absolutely fine.

How it is processed before sending  or how Mastodon handles that isn't really affected by the preview in the client, right?

@dirk Not sure how your server will handle it. You can try when the update is released or if I had to guess, should be the same as what happens if you try it in the official mastodon app?
@ivory Ideally the server would know if I view the parsed message or the raw Markdown input in the preview.
