Guess who is excited about @Berit’s current #FediPaint topic? Yes, this idiot. In a fit of dumb, I’ve in a decided I wanted to go all in on this “Zorn”* palette malarkey. I’ve got my four pots. And - importantly - I’m making a big old mess. Think I’m still very much in a #WIP stage here - but I am expecting the imminent arrive of the newest Rollly - so y’know - things might overtake hobbying.

*I’d genuinely not heard of the Zorn palette until @erikcats mentioned it about another mini I’d painted in my Blanche style but which had a big blob of greeny blue - and it clicked right there that the painting in shades of brown I like had another name. Proof - this place is purely educational.
Final note from filling my water to posting this I’ve spent less than 50 minutes. SEE!!!! IF I’D JUST LET MYSELF PAINT IN SHADES BROWN - I WOULD HAVE EVERYTHING PAINTED - INCLUDING THE HALL, THE LIVING ROOM, THE KITCHEN (etc etc etc)
@RollleafD @Berit Gorn palette?

@roofuskit @RollleafD @Berit

Black, white, yellow ochre, chromium oxide green, and alizarin crimson.

@NinjaDebugger @roofuskit @Berit why is this so close to my usual colour palette…….

@RollleafD @roofuskit @Berit

Welsh and/or british ancestry?

@NinjaDebugger @roofuskit @Berit Ooft this could be an international incident- but I suppose it could be worse - you could have called me Scottish.
@RollleafD @Berit argh I haven’t even started yet and this is giving me The Fear (seriously though, looking amazing already ❤️‍🔥)
@andi cos it’s a ghost…. Right? 😅
@RollleafD oh wow! It's looking so good!
@Berit thanks Pal, and as per usual - thanks you for the unintentional nudge to paint something just for paintings sake! 💚
@RollleafD @Berit Zorn palette is fun! Was amazed at the range of colours still possible with the palette. This was my attempt from a while ago with the same palette
@iainvdw that’s so good - as I was messing on the palette I was thinking the same - the range out of the four together was really interesting. And the limits really got me thinking about how I wanted to translate things - like the metals, love what you’ve done here with that. It’s quite for to blend as you go.
@RollleafD yeah at first glance the palette seems really restrictive, but with a bit of experimentation in blending you can still achieve a great range of colours! :)
@iainvdw my understanding of blending and that is amateur at best, but with the guard rails of 4 colours I was finding it eye opening adding a touch of one here and there to just stretch a colour one way or the other. It was really good fun.
@RollleafD @Berit This palette and the dynamic of the flow is absolutely stunning!
@Eatsbluecrayon ah pal - coming from you - that’s some mighty praise. Thanks 💚
@RollleafD @Berit Looking absolutely gorgeous, great choice of model for it too!

@dmcgk thanks chief - one of those minis I’ve had that I like so much it became a blocker to doing anything with it. Just sat on a shelf. Obviously - breaking the seal on it has me being very sensible and and not at all day dreaming about collecting and paint Nighthaunt. Thank goodness for my notoriety as a paradigm of self discipline.

Really enjoying your own piece for it. Just love seeing your minis come together. The flesh tone from the Zorn Palette you’ve got is something else.

@RollleafD Aaah, the wild coincidence, I've been holding on to that Ork nob I'm using for ages because I just loved his big and little metal hands (weirdly now thinking of the Simpson’s, “I'm tired of these jokes about my giant hand, the first such incident…”)! Was scared to touch it in case I never finished it.

If you love that palette and enjoy painting with it, I definitely put my vote in for chucking that self restraint into the sea!

And thank you 🥰, I was surprised it came out so green!

@dmcgk I hope you’ve asked permission about holding it that long….

@dmcgk long hanging (WAHEY!) patter out of the way. Something like the FediPaint is great for just breaking the safety glass on these sorts of minis.

If I paint the handful of those Nighthaunt minis I have that came with one I painted - maybe I’ll treat myself 😂

It’s *such* a nice green. Makes that Ork proper menacing.

@RollleafD Completely agreed. Really freeing, weirdly, to have a set of restrictions added by someone!

And we all heard it: you just absolutely committed to a full warband.

(Also: huge congrats on the upcoming arrival! The other one, not the minis!)

@dmcgk it is weird someone saying here’s four colours you can use is actually very freeing, eh? 😂
@RollleafD Turns out choice-paralysis is very real in mini-painting!
@dmcgk also - thanks for the wishes. We’re in counting down the days territory now. So a mix of excitement-exhausted-trepidation in all the right ways.
@RollleafD 🤦‍♂️ How did I not realise what I'd written…
@dmcgk too busy holding big green.
@dmcgk I’ll be honest- I’m disappointed that renowned shitehawk @erikcats missed it
@RollleafD @Berit I've not heard of this Zorn thing, but having only four colours is tough, you're doing really well with this skeletal chap, looking good

@PJPaints yeah it had passed me totally by - that’s possibly a reflection on my tendency to day dream when I ought to be listening though 😂

With the four colours - blending them up on a palette - there’s really some scope to get a broad spectrum out of them, a really surprising range.

Thanks for the compliments - think my next stop is to look at upping the saturation.

Hope all is well on your side pal 💚
