Just remembering that time right after I started living with my girlfriend in Austria, and she came home at the exact second I rinsed my pizza

And she just drops everything she's holding and goes

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING.

ARE YOU WASHING PIZZA?

IS THIS SOME OTHER STUPID AMERICAN THING I DON'T KNOW ABOUT?

WE DON'T DO THAT HERE, WHY ARE YOU WASHING PIZZA???

RE: https://doesstuff.social/@lety/115872966983340854

okay for anyone discovering this toot in a vacuum, here's the context lmao

@lety

a wet or humid kitchen towel or paper towel in the microwave with the plastic dome over it does the trick beautifully as well.

@lety
Ah! Yes! I don't rinse the bread, though, I wrap it in a damp paper towel.
@lety why _were_ you washing pizza?
@jackeric @lety Inquiring minds want to know

RE: https://doesstuff.social/@lety/115872966983340854

@meltedcheese @jackeric lol maybe this anecdote should've been a reply to my poll

@lety @meltedcheese @jackeric no it is definitely better as a stand-alone, thank you for this gift

@lety Since English is not my mother tongue I expected that you were rinsing a pizza as if you were washing clothes submerging the pizza in water and I felt for your Austrian girlfriend.

I usually instead of rinsing I'd go with just "sparkling some water onto it" and instead of the air fryier it goes to the horizontal toaster/oven.

@d_prieto lmao that's the goal i just don't keep a spray bottle of water in the kitchen

@lety you were simply following the pizza boiling advisory ā€‹ā€‹

@lety There a modern version of this where you can put a plate of water in the microwave with pizza to refresh it. Works marginally well with bread.
@wandrecanada
I never would have guessed a pizza could refresh a plate of water but I'll keep this tip in mind next time I have a stale plate of water.
@lety
@lety I gotta agree with your girlfriend on this. First of all pizza is not "leftover " if it isn't still in my fridge after lunch the next day. Prior to then I'm merely enjoying my pizza in a leisurely manner. If I ever have any leftover pizza a bit of olive oil and cheese revive it well for the microwave. Rarely happens.
@RichWhitaker I'm still saving up to get an olive oil faucet installed
@lety @RichWhitaker I will fund it if it leads to oil bath videos!
@lety Hello. I don't know you, but. You rinsed... "Pizza", meaning food, yes? The thing with dough, tomatoe sauce, cheese and toppings? "Dough" as in the thing held together by gluten? Rinsed? Like, you put it in a stream of water?
@nobody and i'll fucking do it again too
@lety @nobody As this is, I mean, very surprising to me, Iā€˜m curious: Why? And, unter what circumstances and during which phase of preparation?
