#FreeBSD on mobile when? Would be much much better than whatever the fuck #Android / #AOSP / #Google are doing right now. I think we need to start working on this.

#BSD

@stilic not even lying, I'm wanting to whip out my Pixel 3a and see if it's even possible to get FreeBSD just barely executing on the Pixel 3a.
@stilic (then again I can't exactly open the phone up and hook up UART cables or some shit like that)
@mrmasterkeyboard we desperately need more diversity in kernels

counting on linux and only linux has been a big mistake, as just one project can rugpull us (sloppull?) like linux just did

systemd is very practical to replace and there are many good alternatives. linux, however? not nearly as true
@lumi @mrmasterkeyboard no. No. Make my thoughts shut up. Please. I don't want to write my own kernel. I don't need to. Nooo
@lixou @lumi ahh it'll be fun! trust me!
@mrmasterkeyboard @lumi been there. done that. learned that I hate x86_64 uefi magic. maybe I'll retry when completed university courses about that. But I dislike "yeah just use framebuffer from extern magical bootloader"

@lixou @lumi actually speaking of kernels https://codeberg.org/xv7/xv7

something i want to get working on again

xv7

The xv7 source tree.

@lumi @mrmasterkeyboard a kernel is a lotta work, taking decades to stabilise and support a diversity of hardware 😓
@lumi what did linux do?
