Just for the cringe, I checked the gas price yesterday at the place I usually buy at. The cost of regular is up 75 cents per gallon, from 2.749 to 3.499 (27%).

My home heating oil has gone up even more. I did a prepaid purchase last fall at 3.27/gal. It’s now 5.37, a 64% increase. I still have about a 100 gals of the prepay, but since it’s been colder than expected this fall/winter, I’ll need to do another top off to get me thru to next fall.

My wallet says ouch

@FurryBeta yup. But to be honest, it fits the trends that I had already created a few years ago when I was doing cost of living.

I need to actually finish insulating this house now, and I'm debating installing solar panels as well because the payoff is quickly going from 20 years to 10 or less...

I'm putting in a heat pump and moving away from petroleum too, generally, I just want to move away from oil based products.

@Denton After I bought the place, I had insulation done thru mass save. They did just the attic insulation and door weather stripping for the air sealing. My biggest next thing is replacing the windows. They’re mainly single pane with a “storm window” to provide a little more insulation. I have a mini split, but the location is such that none of the air gets to the bedrooms (Brrr!), so that means central hvac. I’m looking at solar some too. A plug-in system would be great
