@marcoarment holy ****! That is really neat. I brought up a random podcast at it and there was already a transcript. I through another that didn’t have a transcript and about 3 minutes later @overcastfm had transcribed it.

David Opdyke@marcoarment this is SOOOOO awesome! Even this first beta version make it incredibly easy to skip around in podcasts without chapters. The fact that you can click the transcript to move to that spot in the podcast is *chefs kiss*. Awesome work.

Now if you can get it to transcribe the bell sound and the gear change sound at the appropriate times that’d be great 🫡

@marcoarment our podcast(s) supply <podcast:transcript url="filename.vtt" type="text/vtt" /> transcripts (using podlove publisher). Does Overcast read those or are they always created from the audio?
@robkrueger I don't support externally-specified transcripts yet. It's on my to-do list!

Michael Porter@marcoarment This looks great! I only noticed one apparent glitch - After you hit the “Transcribe” button and it starts, the “This episode has not been transcribed yet” message flickers in and out during the “Analyzing" and "Transcribing” processes.
This is on an iPhone 12 mini, iOS 26.3.1(a).
While I’m here, a feature request - I’d love to be able to export the transcription…

flunkedflank@marcoarment Amazing story on the bootleg. But I’m confused about private podcast support. Maybe I’m missing something obvious, but is this a grey area, or do you have an above-the-board right to intercept private URLs and use copies of the files on your servers?
