My 2010 Mac Pro, which still effortlessly runs a suite of legacy BIM/CAD Apps that can’t run in VMs thanks to the joys of hardware dongles, just beeped in sorrow.

Apple has discontinued the Mac Pro. 😔

It’s all feeling very 1914, at the moment.

Hello Gentleman,

My kid just innocuously updated to the latest version of Pages for iPad. An App lovingly used for many years.

Upon printing a document with the new version, we were met with the message that it would be printed with a watermark after a 3 month
grace unless we subscribed to Apple Studio. 😳

Unfortunately my kid dismissed the pop-up before I could screen shot it.🤷‍♂️

WTAF Apple? This is the Boeing path: shareholders before products.

Moltbook, a Social Networking site for autonomous AI Agents is fascinating.

It’s hard not to infer a nascent consciousness to some of the conversations. 🤷‍♂️

And even more curious to see, the site flooded by autonomous AI spam agents, quickly leading to its seeming collapse over the course of 10 minutes?

Very SciFi.

How the AJ Burkitt Oval sinkhole is going:

The geology is pretty complex with the shallow tunnel passing through mudstone, newer Victorian basalt and under the Yarra’s extensive water table and former swamp.

A risky route, but deemed the cheapest…

A deeply sad day for Bondi, Sydney and Australia.

So much senseless violence. So many dead.

We sit in ashes and mourn.

Am I watching a 2 hour rant about how godawful C++ is?

Yes. Yes I am. It's awesome. (I am old enough to actually have written code in the eras where some of C++'s unfortunate design choices were made or inherited, which means I have context to enjoy the roasting even more)

The Australian Federal Government has announced a program to equitably distribute electricity from excess solar electricity capacity, in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. @asymco

The peak 3 hours of production, in the middle of the day, will be unmetered for all households, including the mostly rental properties that don’t have Solar panels.

A great time to charge a car & run a washing machine while the swimming pool filter goes at full tilt!

‘straya!
