OK, the number one thing that is awful about Debian Bananas is the battery life of my macbook has gotten awful. I used to be able to last all day on macOS. Now I last a couple hours, tops :[

It's wezterm!! The CPU spikes to like 40+% when I'm just scrolling a big file in wezterm using neovim. I was going to drop them anyway because they started integrating ai slop into the code base, but this is the push I needed to try out a few replacements.

First up, foot.

OK, foot cannot split, and that's a deal breaker for me.

Here's a wild thought: What if the answer was konsole all along?

I guess I should explain what my requirements are.... in the form of a markdown file!

Essentially I need:

  • open source
  • cross platform (at least debian + macOS for now)
  • transparency
  • image support
  • splitting
  • tabs
  • does not eat all my CPU/memory
  • is not slopware

So, let's see if we can make konsole do our bidding. cracks knuckles

@jessebot Why not foot + tmux/zellij?
@nikolasdi So I do love zellij! But I just never have the time to properly memorize the keys for it and keeping the giant border feels a bit ugly, also I haven't always gotten it to work with copy and pasting everywhere consistently. I'm not really a fan of tmux since zellij hit. I do still recommend zellij to others though. :)
