I think physics is magic caught in formulas. These newly discovered particles were detected even though they exist for a fraction of a second. Their insides were counted, even though they cannot be seen. It all happened by smashing other tiny particles together. The only reason scientists don't wear pointed hats to work is probably because the hats can knock over the equipment.

@iwritelike I firmly believe that "A Kind Of Magic" by Queen is based on band chat about quantum physics. Go on, have a listen and tell me it's not a crazy idea, especially with an astrophysicist and electronic engineer involved ;)
@_thegeoff Oh I'm so listening to it right now!
@iwritelike I mean, I might be wrong, and I hate it when people say what the artist/author etc meant without good reason (so yeah, guilty as charged), but I find that a fun reading of the lyrics. (Especially John Bell's theorem, which is central to it all..."the Bell that rings, inside my mind"!)
@_thegeoff Well, this song will never sound the same to me. I am not a physicist, just a big fan of science, but even I hear it now in "challenging the doors of time" and "the waiting seems eternity". I will Google John Bell's theorem, but the ringing bell does sound like a very weird coincidence, especially taking into account their backgrounds, as you said.
Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun. And I love this song.
@iwritelike Science is a long, long game. No mortal man [yes...] can win this day ;)
@_thegeoff I loved that line too. :)
Well, sometimes the value is in the act of playing.
