Epistomai@noracodes I think they somehow converted into the corporations as the alien series. I don't believe they were like Dr. Evil in James Bond or Austin Powers movies, just plotting for world domination since the beginning. For example, I don't see Mark Zuckerberg planning to be the next Lex Luthor when he dropped school. I think they fall into darkness like the Nazguls with the ring, without knowing it
@epistomai I mean, Zuckerberg was absolutely a power-hungry misogynist when he dropped out of school. I'm sure it's gotten worse, but as the poem goes, "the roots of sin are there."
@noracodes Oh yes, absolutely. He ain't a saint or something close to it, but power enhances corruption. That's the point of lord of the rings and The ring of the nibelungs

Daniel Fortes@noracodes Honestly, his blog post would me more tolerable if he just said "this is a great tool and I will use it and I don't care about the ethics" instead of meandering and saying "don't be mad at me, It's just the times, I have to adapt!". Just own your choices instead of dressing them in the cloak of inevitability
@dfortes I disagree, tbh. Simon Willison does what you suggest and is utterly insufferable, at least to me.
