Internet of Shit: AI Poop Analysis App Offered to Sell Me Database of Its Users' Poops
https://www.404media.co/ai-poop-analysis-app-offered-to-sell-me-access-to-its-users-poops/
The post, made by a user called Ill_Car_7351, was advertising exactly what it sounds like: A database of poop images, collected from an AI poop analyzing app that he had launched several years ago.
25,000 people had been taking images of their poop and uploading them to his app. He’d been collecting, analyzing, and annotating these images and now wanted to sell access to them
you know it’s weird, whenever a project in a controversy about LLMs bans them (servo) people seem to love it in a way that utterly drowns out the doomsaying from the AI boosters. and then when a project says or does something friendly to LLMs, there’s always backlash from a fucking gigantic number of people
the ability of the software industry to ignore public opinion has always been fucking magical, especially as it pretends to do community and democracy
Every macOS developer comes to the same conclusion after trying to use SwiftUI to make a proper Mac app: it’s not ready (yet).
To be honest, I can’t understand why everyone keeps trying.

Update: if this comment is an accurate reflection of the final policy and non-trivial LLM use is banned, that's better: https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/pull/3959#discussion_r3240037026
The Rust LLM policy discussion is making me deeply depressed. I just want one corner free from LLMs.
So the Rust repo contains a PR to discuss an LLM policy for the project. As expected, lots of comments.
But it explicitly declares many contentious issues (e.g. copyright status of LLM output) off-topic in that discussion, and is applying moderation to enforce this. In order to bound the discussion scope "to the policy itself".
Just... how?
"Put on your blinders, please, we're starting the LLM discussion."

May: Where did #SwiftUI leave you hanging?
Almost finished re-writing ImageFlow, my node-based image editor, from mostly-SwiftUI to mostly-AppKit. It is *much* faster now.
Now I need to implement the node inspector, and next tackle the UIKit version for iPad!
