Isidore of Seville is officially the patron saint of the internet. I have no idea why, and I think that's a mistake.

After all, given the number of cat photos and videos we all see every day, the patron saint of the internet should be Saint Gertrude, who is also the patron saint of cats.

Today is her feast day. So happy Saint Gertrude's Day to everyone! And yeah, it's also the day of that guy with the snakes....

@joyce it’s because he made a proto-encyclopaedia based on many different books. St. Gertrude only became associated with cats in the 1980’s, when the Internet Protocol was already a thing. Alas, too late.

@venite

I figured it was something like that with Isidore. I didn't know that about St. Gertrude. Thanks!

@venite @joyce I think if the internet wants Gertrude, we can probably make that happen in a much more socially real way than what's-his-name. And there's apparently also this guy.

@joyce Is there a patron saint of pedantic, patronizing arguments? Probably not. Gertrude is definitely the best choice, then.
