My almost-6-year-old has decided she wants a small Minecraft-themed birthday with family this year. Because I can't leave well enough alone, I had the idea to fill select blocks with goodies and make a game out of filling loot bags by mining. I'll say more about the game part later, but for now, BEHOLD: blocks! Printed at home and cut on my Cricut Explore 3, with a little two-sided tape. I think this is going to work out just fine (although it is going to be a lot of work). Thank goodness for the Cricut; it's such an unlock for ideas like this. Uses the game textures, assembled into the cube pattern in Inkscape.

The great blockening continues. Minecraft-themed birthday party for the littlest is tomorrow and she and I spent some time taping and pre-folding blocks. Middle child & I did a bunch of assembly on the basic blocks that won't have goodies in them. Glue may have resulted in faster application, but I think the hold we're getting from the 2-sided tape is pretty good, and even more instant than superglue would be. This is nuts, but it's way less nuts because I had a little robot friend to help me make them. If I had to cut and fold all of this without the Cricut, I don't think I would have even attempted it.
