Nesrine Malik argues, in the end its all about Palestine:

'The absence of peace & self-determination for the Palestinian people is the original sin; all flows from there. Netanyahu prefers to be in a costly state of wars with seemingly no end rather than see a free Palestine. His government has yoked Israel, the Middle East & the entire world to this expanding crisis, rather than solve the fundamental issue'!

War in Iran, chaos in the Gulf, repression in the west: and the thread that binds them all is Palestine

In the Middle East, the occupation is the original sin. And those who banked on this US-backed ‘stability’ now find it giving way beneath them, says Guardian columnist Nesrine Malik

Wars end, Netanyahu goes to prison.

@ChrisMayLA6

This is a world war with potentially disastrous consequences for everyone involved.

The UK and Europe should steer well clear.

Iran Officially Confirms Military Support From Russia And China In War Against the US

Iran says Russia and China provide military support under strategic ties; Tehran also limits Hormuz access for US and Israeli ships, Politico reports.

Does that mean Trump will now go all-out to support Ukraine and defeat Russia militarily? I somehow doubt it. He likes despots. If Iran didn't insist on being Islamic, he and Khamenei would have been best mates. They share basic core values.

@riggbeck

Seems unlikely. Trump, Khamenei and Netanyahu are all fundamentalist Abrahamic zealots, and I suspect the US is now thinking in terms of protecting the petrodollar and growing its resource pool to compete with China.

Fwiw, I think they'll be lucky to escape from the current mess with the PetroDollar intact.

@ReggieHere @ChrisMayLA6

Attacking Kharg Island and bombing oil facilities seems remarkably short-sighted in that context.

@riggbeck

Yes, it looks like a kneejerk reaction to Iran offering free passage to oil sold in Yuan.

The PetroDollar is the only thing underpinning US hegemony and it's looking increasingly wobbly.
