I broke an egg. No. I rode the yolks. No.

I rode the Oaks firetrail from Woodford to Glenbrook, dam heading back up. Despite a glorious day, not many others enjoying it. One guy on a road/cross/gravel bike going up as I went down & vice versa.

🤔 Thinking about it after seeing that fella the second time, was it @parbs? If so, sorry, I'd have said more than g'day!

20km of climbs to go!

I made it back. My legs are already cramping. 🤷

Station to station:
50km (54 total)
Climbing 1040m
2.5hrs + breaks
Av HR 150 😱
Max HR 165 😱 making me only 55—I wish! Theoretically, MHR is 220-age. Pfft
Biggest air 0.58s
Weight loss—0. What? Not even sweat? Must've over watered!
No walking hills
One struggle to get a very heavy eMTB over the gate at the end. My body cried enough!
71% battery used
Absolutely buggered. No way I could have done that without Es

I ended up seeing 3 more gravelleurs, & what looked to be an electric recumbent three wheeler. I first thought I was seeing an off road mobility scooter racing down the hill, but as it got close I decided it was just a recumbent. 🤷 The rider was having fun, anyway. 😎

I also saw a dad with a tow rope running back to his kid's bike 😄, & a few regular mtbs, runners, & walkers. Less people than I expected on such an absolutely glorious autumn day—fuel prices, maybe, but railway at each end 🤷

For years I rode this track *at least* weekly. Day & night. Back. Of. My. Hand. Last ride was 18mths ago, & I barely remembered it today.

I should fix that, it's only down the road, after all, & I can always catch a train home if I'm too knackered to ride up. We'll see.

[wanders off to look at prices of light full power eMTBs] Yeah, not cheap, are they? Maybe I just need more^w some muscles. 💪

@thefathippy please share your exploration of eMTBs. My current idea is a Bosch motor in a carbon frame with a decent battery. No idea who makes that.

@mikecarden

So far, my Rocky Mountain has been great. 105Nm Dyname motor, steams up hills in max, but I'm usually at 50%. I used max a few times today. 170/160 travel. Heavy as a tank. I think it's supposed to be ~26kg. Nearly double my Mojo!

My cadence sensor(?) was playing up today. Possibly dirty, possibly a dodgy contact.

Bosch in carbon should have lots of options—they're probably the biggest motor mfr. Avinox also seem good, but not many options in Oz. 🤷
