‘My ideas are a little revolutionary’: ecologist Suzanne Simard on intelligent forests, the climate and her critics

Her research popularised the idea of the wood wide web, but the scientific backlash was brutal. As the author of The Mother Tree returns to the forest in a new book, she discusses her battle to reimagine our relationship with nature

@NatureMC

neither backlash or brutality follow the scientific method, so it is impossible for scientific backlash to exist at all, or for it to be brutal.

the only scientific response to anything is honest curiosity.

this article, which is interesting and important, should be updated to also be accurate:

'snivelling shit eaters who demonstrably want their heads kicked in responded with hostility to her work.'

that is the replacement sentence they need for factual accuracy.

@falcennial I don’t understand what you’re trying to achieve with your faecal language.

But if you have any criticism of the article, please do leave it directly with The Guardian (as sadly I don’t work there): https://www.theguardian.com/info/complaints-and-corrections

And if you speak with me, do it in a decent language, pls. Here's Mastodon, and neither the X-filth nor your pub's drunken corner.
