Wales first part of UK to mandate solar panels on new buildings

Updated building regulations will effectively mandate solar for domestic and commercial buildings in Wales from early 2027. The new rules come ahead of England's Future Homes Standard, which is also expected to effectively mandate rooftop solar for new builds.

Not gonna lie its better than nothing. Better would be all.buildings have subsidies to.install solar that they own and cuts power bill, or pays for excess power produced.

Make Irish people stronger, financially better.

@primonatura Actually no, it says: "The updated building regulations for Wales do not explicitly set out a PV mandate but they do introduce a requirement for “a system for renewable electricity generation” to be installed on site."

That makes FAR more sense than the headline. Mandating an outcome is usually much better law-writing than mandating the use of a particular technology which maybe isn't going to be the best means of achieving the outcome everywhere throughout the lifetime of the law.
