#MorningAll & #TZAG G’day Squirrel Fans, hope I find you bright eyed & bushy tailed!

Saturday has finally fought its way past the rest of the week & is sitting in the garden all bright & full of the joys of Spring!

I’ve woken up rather dopey (Stop it!) & am hoping that coffee revives me in due course!

Mrs S is off shopping in a bit so peace will reign for a couple of hours.

Cashew later Peeps, have a fabulously nutty day #Today ! 😊🫶🖖

@MAJ1
Good morning 🌸 master Skwerl!
I hope you'll have a lovely day today. Don't be too dopey though 😉 Hihi... 😊

@PixysJourney Morning Cynni 🤗🥰

Thank you 🙏 🤗

I’ll try not to!

You have a nice relaxing end to your day Lovely! 😊🫶 🐿️🖖

@MAJ1
You're very welcome 🌸
Hihi.... 😇
I'll try to... But I'm not really successful yet... Unfortunately... 😔
@MAJ1
Good morning lovely 🐿️🐿️
Have a marvellous day, and enjoy your bit of quiet when it comes ☺️

@DoubleTreble Morning DT 🤗🥰

Why thank you kindly 🙏 🤗

I hope the your day treats you extremely well Lovely! 😊🫶 🐿️🖖

@MAJ1 Look at the hour? You always sleep this late on saturday? LOL good morning, I hear we're getting we snow, then rain. I was counting on just the rain

@Rasta Morning Rasta 👋😊

I’m reading ‘South’ by Earnest Shackleton & they have just had a … “precipitation of ice-spicules, exactly like little hairs, about a third of an inch long.”

So count yourself lucky you’re only getting wet snow! 😁

I hope that it melts quickly, or that it turns to rain & means you don’t have to dig your way to the road again!

Not to make you jealous but we have sunny weather forecast for the day, although it’s not going to be terribly warm - maxing out at 8ºC.

Have a good day Mon Frére! 😊🫶 🐿️🖖

@MAJ1
hey, except for getting a bit too wet, I like the rain. I was out last week when it first started after the snow. I had a rain jacket and double hat over my headphones, but evenually the heavy drip off my jacket soaked my pants and filled my boots. If it is already hard rainng, I'll put the rainpants on too, it's comfortable moving gravel and heavier work, or digging tree holes.. if the ground is soft enough

@Rasta Hate rain, hate cold rain more!

I was born in the wrong latitude, I’d have been better in the Tropics!

I must admit I have never unsre stood why folk from nice warm climates come to the UK, it really cannot be ofr the weather!

@MAJ1 people in the tropics are still wearing their wool hats. It drops to 60 in Bermuda in the winter. I've seen space heaters
@Rasta That’s still 15ºC, that’s not cold! Folks in the UK are out in shorts & t-shirts in 15 degrees! (Not me you understand, but I’m a huge wuss when it comes to the cold! )
@MAJ1 Same around here, and when we go to Bermuda, you can spot the tourists because they are wearing shorts and tshirts in the winter
@Rasta @MAJ1 I was thinking same thing .. hope you got a very good sleep Good morning
- 21 is going to chase me under the covers pretty soon ...

@MAJ1
Morning Maj1 👋😃.

Saturday you say 😃, full of the joys of spring, eh?
I say, don't let it fool you.
Over here, NW coast, it's as spring like as a winters day fighting the sun for a duvet made of clouds.

Enjoy your hours of bliss.
👋😃🖖😎

@Soldusty Morning Verðandi 👋😊

Well it might be sunny here but it’s not overly warm - about 5ºC outside at the moment!

At some point I need to get out & attend to the garden but I’m aware that my spine has still not forgiven me for last weeks efforts so not today!

Might go wild & do a little bit more in the box room though, it’s mildly addictive!

Hope you have a super Saturday mate! 😊🫶🖖

@MAJ1
That's certainly a tad warmer than yesterday.

Try not over do the spine torture.

I. Shall try, with my grand plans for sofa & movies. Doh! I knew I should have bought some popcorn yesterday!

Enjoy your day.
👋😃🖖😎

@Soldusty Not been too bad, but not the sofa surfurfing bonazza originally planned - there was mopping & hoovering!

Relaxing now watching something on Stonehenge.

I fancy a movie later, but that will be dependant on Mrs S I guess. As for popcorn it’s been years since I had popcorn!

Hope your day is progressing well mon ami! 😊🫶🖖

@MAJ1
Those ruddy chores never quit. Glad you made it to the sofa eventually. Oh, nice. Hope it was/is a good doc.

Over here, brunch was had & now I' partway through The Amazing Spiderman (2012) the kid with the messy spiky hair & at least 50% rom-com.

Happy chilling
👋😃🖖😎

@Soldusty I’m glad that brunch was subdued & consumed, you never can tell with this stuff!

Not seen a Spiderman movie in a while - I do like them though 😊

We have gone old school & are watching ‘The Hunt for Red October’ it reminds me of … simpler times!

@MAJ1 @Soldusty

i find it a nightmare choosing something to watch for myself, let alone with someone else.

so i let them choose (within reason).

when i first met mary we went to the cinema, wanted to see 2 different things so just met after.

@amiserabilist @Soldusty I struggle to choose a lot of the time.

9/10 times I want to watch a movie when I goto bed I end up spending so long debating what I want to watch I end up too tired to watch anything having spent a fruitless hour failing to choose anything!

It’s easier with 2 people becasue one can instantly dismiss all the movies one knows that the other person doesn’t enjoy - for example tonight I found out that Mrs S didn’t overly enjoy watching the Dune movies, so they will now be added to the list of movies to watch while she is in the office during the week.

We did both enjoy watching ‘The Hunt for Red October’ though. We are going to have a bit of a Jack Ryan fest over the next few days.

@MAJ1 @amiserabilist
Please find the nearest exit out of my head squerl 😅. That's me to a T so many times.
Some nights I'll be convinced I know what I want to watch but just like those times I don't, I'll scroll my watch list & my mood will change. Now I'm off scrolling the whole website & rinse & repeat until I go back to my original choice or a find a hammer (or similar) horror on YT. Short by today's film standards.

@Soldusty @amiserabilist Great minds think alike mate! 😊

I tend to read most nights when I go to bed, just for ½ an hour or so before I fall asleep, but on occasion I do look for a movie & it can be excruciating. I’m like that during the day too, I will spend forever picking a movie & then get distracted ½ way thru watching it!

Not a big fan of YT & I couldn’t say why, I think there is so much content that I get overwhelmed just thinking about it!

I sometimes watch Tom Hiddleston narrating ‘Earth at Night, in colour.’ Which is ideal bedtime watching when you need sometihng calming & short!

@MAJ1 @amiserabilist
On YT I'll stick to the channels I follow, ignore the ones that don't upload movies so that's me down to 2 channels & a couple of playlists.

I've somehow not come across that Tom Hiddleston video, will have to look it up 😃.

@Soldusty @amiserabilist It’s a series on Apple TV, I’m not sure if it’s available elsewhere. The photography is amazing - very low light colour photography! All they need is moonlight apprently!
@MAJ1 @amiserabilist
Doh, no apple TV for me 😐. I'll still try a look on YT in case any escaped into the wild 😁.
@Soldusty @amiserabilist That’s a shame, like you say hopefully they will escape to YT!

@MAJ1 @Soldusty

“It is well known that stone can think, because the whole of electronics is based on that fact, but in some universes men spend ages looking for other intelligences in the sky without once looking under their feet. That is because they've got the time-span all wrong. From stone's point of view the universe is hardly created and mountain ranges are bouncing up and down like organ-stops while continents zip backward and forward in general high spirits, crashing into each other from the sheer joy of momentum and getting their rocks off. It is going to be quite some time before stone notices its disfiguring skin disease and starts to scratch, which is just as well.”

Terry Pratchett, Equal Rites

@amiserabilist @Soldusty Morning chaps! 👋😊

Perfect quote, & extremely apt!

They reckon the horizontally laid ‘Alter’ stone was brought from somewhere in Scotland!

@MAJ1 @amiserabilist
Morning 👋😃.
Well, after walking that far of course it needed a lie down.

@Soldusty @MAJ1

“This is ridiculous," he told Twoflower. "Rocks don't fly. They're noted for not doing it."
"Maybe they would if they could," said Twoflower. "Perhaps this one just found out how."
"Let's just hope it doesn't forget again," said Rincewind.
He huddled up in his soaking robe and looked glumly at the cloud around him. He supposed there were some people somewhere who had some control over their lives; they got up in the mornings, and went to bed at night in the reasonable certainty of not falling over the edge of the world or being attacked by lunatics or waking up on a rock with ideas above its station. He dimly remembered leading a life like that once.”

Terry Pratchett, The Light Fantastic

@amiserabilist @Soldusty Another example of convergent storylines between my favourite authors - pTerry has the flying monoliths, Douglas Adams has the flying party - which hits Arthur squarely in the back on his first proper flying experience!

@MAJ1 @Soldusty

In our new paper published in Nature, we have traced the Altar Stone’s source to north-east Scotland, meaning it travelled at least 430 miles (700km) to Salisbury Plain. This is an incredible distance for Neolithic times, before the wheel is thought to have arrived in Britain. This stunning discovery sheds new light on the capabilities and long-range connections of Britain’s Neolithic inhabitants.

There is no direct evidence that human sacrifice was practiced at Stonehenge, though it was primarily used as a, cemetery (500 years of cremations) and a sacred, monumental complex. While myths suggest sacrifice, particularly around the named "Slaughter Stone," this is a later invention. Some burials indicate potential violent deaths, but evidence is scarce.

Comment: Stonehenge’s giant Altar Stone came all the way from north-east Scotland

Dr Rob Ixer (UCL Institute of Archaeology) explains in The Conversation how research he was a part of found that Stonehenge’s giant Altar Stone originated in northeast Scotland.

@MAJ1
Morning, squirrel guru! That already sounds like the start of a great day.

Fun times beckon for me today, sorting out Home Assistant notification sounds on my new phone. Because that's fun. No, really 🙄

Off to comedy show later, at least.

Have a fine day.

@blingoali Afternoon BA 👋😊

Gotta be done! I can appreciate it being fun! 😊

Oooh, enjoy!

Thanks mate, you too! 😊🫶 🐿️🖖

@MAJ1
Good morning. I’m up, but not exactly bright eyed. Our sun won’t come up for another hour, but I’m encouraged that the forecast doesn’t include rain for today.

I have no plans so we’ll see what develops after coffee.

@Sharonbw Morning Sharon 🤗🥰

Hopefully the sun has made an appearance by now for you & Saturday is treating you well! 😊🫶 🐿️🖖

@MAJ1 Good morning from a very wet Belgium. 🙂☕

I'm two coffees into the day and almost awake. I hope your day is going well so far.

@Paul I like that your day is measured in coffees! 😁

I’ve just finished my afternoon coffee & am settled in learning some more about Stonehenge. There maybe takeaway & a movie later!

@MAJ1 A takeaway and a film sounds like an excellent plan. We did that yesterday 😉
@Paul I will have to see if I can find an appropriate movie - I’ve part watch 3 this week because my brain is in complete squirrel mode!

@MAJ1 I can never bring myself to watch only part of a film. Either I have time to watch the whole thing or I don't even start. If I watched films in bits I would never get to the end of any of them.

Good luck with finding a film for tonight 🙂

@Paul I used to be like that, but when I’m struggling my brain runs amok & concentrating on anytihng for more than an hour is a challenge!

We have ended up starting a Jack Ryan fest, starting with ‘The Hunt for Red October’ a film I have always liked but not seen for a while.

@MAJ1 I don't think I've ever seen The Hunt For Red October.

I remember wanting to see it when it was released, but I missed it at the time and I've never gotten around to catching up. I really should remedy this at some point.

Enjoy the film 🙂

@Paul Well they have gotten around to digitising it so it’s out there should you wanna scratch that particular itch!
