“But there weren’t any depictions of SecUnits in books, either. I guess you can’t tell a story from the point of view of something that you don’t think has a point of view.” Murderbot quote

Thinking of history textbooks…

@GinevraCat the above is a very good quote - put into a very appropriate context!!

#murderbot #patriarchy #marthaWells

@rebekka_m I'm really enjoying the books.

@GinevraCat yeah me too. did watch the series on apple and yeah, it's like a very very very [!] good negroni [which I love[d] SO much!] instead of cokain [not that i've ever used the latter but...].

will probably listen to the murderbot's again in 2026, the audiobooks are very well read.

@rebekka_m 😁Note to self: try negroni

I see Tanqueray do a premade one. Hmmnmm 🤔

@GinevraCat i sort of faded out of drinking alcohol about 2y ago [The Man was absent for 8 weeks + i simply wasn't in the mood for drinking something alone [and have almost no [at least very few local] friends] and then during the last 24 months i almost never saw one reason why i should again drink any, just did 1cm of gin i guess about three times during that period IIRC] and/but negroni is/was my alltime favorite. <3 <3 <3

[premade doesn't sound well to me.]

@GinevraCat i would recommend going to a sound cocktail bar [that should've a drinks' menu offering at least [!] one whole page with different gins and different tonics available to be combined to be accepted as such ;)] and try one.
@rebekka_m DAMN fine idea. We're heading into warmer weather so I can sit outside and people watch while I sip it!
@rebekka_m I very occasionally make a G&T at home. I don't really like wine and I tend to forget about the other drinks unless visitors ask for them.
@GinevraCat i REALLY liked trying out different sorts of beer [at least until i developed an allergy to barley of all kinds of cereals, it's contained in EVERYTHING] and had several periods of pretty regular wine drinking. i was not only drawn to it, today i would say, i was psychologically addicted. [or am, bc you never grow out of an addiction, don't you?, but i never had the urge to drink anything since.]

@rebekka_m Yeah, with ADHD (higher addiction risk profile) as well as some family history of alcoholism I was always quite cautious with casual drinking.

I think you could grow out of a psychological addiction, maybe? Like if the circumstances of your life change enough? I don't know. I feel no urge to smoke anymore - and that's pretty damn addictive.

@GinevraCat same here concerning smoking [as well as ADHD and family history, unsurprisingly], and yeah, maybe a certain "outgrowing" can happen - my life's circumstances have changed COMPLETELY during the last years, so.
