went into full blown panic response mode earlier - one of our co-workers just started to send a couple of us really long strings of random characters on slack. no response was provided when we asked what was up - we assumed they were having some sort of medical emergency.

anyway eventually I was able to get them on the phone, which is where they informed me they had a cat that will often wander across the keyboard.

phew.

@SecureOwl also reminds me of what happened that time my company started rolling out Yubikeys

@SecureOwl sure they weren't just trying regex ?
@apjone
Haha, that's exactly how Regex feels. I have to look up every single expression every time because nothing makes sense and I just can't memorize it. @SecureOwl

My rabbit once sent several lines of gibberish to an IRC channel just like that.

@SecureOwl

@SecureOwl they don't lock their computer?

@monstreline @ConanChiles to be fair they work from home and no one else is home during the day

except the cat of course

@SecureOwl Somebody needs PawSense.
PawSense helps you catproof your computer, by protecting against cat typing but letting humans use the keyboard freely

@SecureOwl One of my rescue pigeons liked to wander on the keyboard and press key shortcuts not even my programmer wife knew existed. One time he somehow managed to open up the browser while doing it.
@SecureOwl Also reminds me of coworkers changing the keyboard layout to Dvorak in retaliation for keeping your computer unlocked when going for a break.
@SecureOwl haha, my first thought was a security incident
@SecureOwl So, NOT the butler ??
@SecureOwl wow, what would you have thought if he used a stun gun on the keyboard???

@SecureOwl One time, one of the guys I knew from high school had a very strange tweet with random characters on his account. This was at the time when he was traveling to a different country for a work trip.

He then, a few minutes later, replied to the tweet tagging his wife and saying "Please take the iPad away from the baby." 😄

@SecureOwl awkward when everyone has proof you stepped away from your workstation without locking it
