My mailserver stopped pulling in the mails from an older external email address today.

And well, yet another #debian annoyance. They apparently just removed the ".service" #systemd unit file from the #fetchmail package. And to nobodies surprise that caused it to stop working after an automatic update.

And then you look into the open issue and one of the first recommendations is to go into the #ArchLinux version of the package and manually copy the .service and .tmpfiles basically.

...

I wanted to replace that #debian server for quite a while with something more production ready, like #ArchLinux or #NixOS. You know, with something that doesn't break in weird and surprising ways all the time and just works (with auto updates enabled and all).
This is the issue I'm talking about btw: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1129245
