07/03/2026 - Sunny midday walk. We saw our first butterfly of the year, a lovely small tortoiseshell. Also a mixed flock of pink-footed geese and whooper swans flying north in a single v formation. What a noise they were making. Never seen these different birds flying together before, just magic!

@Spaceways Thanks cos it’s another grey and grotty one today. Makes it tricky to get motivated. Between this and being under-the-weather I’ve not done so much walking this winter. I have a lot of building my strength back up to do so a bit of sunshine would help immensely.

@TheTiredHiker I know what you mean, when the weather is rubbish it's hard to get up and going. We had a rubbish Jan & Feb but March so far has been OK. I hope the spring weather improves for you and you manage to get out and about soon.
