We travel the Spaceways.
Snaps of the stuff we see along the way.

My posts have loads of edits as I can't spell for toffee and I worry too much about the rubbish I write!

This winter has been unusually good for sightings of sea ducks. I'd never seen a velvet scoter before, then along came four of them. The 'velvet' part of the name comes from the velvety sheen on the males' black feathers. They're an unusual and quirky species and really uncommon.

Last few from the cold West Park walk late last week.

The water born selection. A Greylag Goose, a Mute Swan and a Cormorant with his buddies.

All taken on a 20+ year old Pentax *istDS with a Sigma 70-300 Macro of around the same vintage. You don't need the latest kit to feel happy with your photography.

Around noon last Sunday I went for a 19 mile walk to the mountains in the South (Schwรคbische Alb).
I went up the hills late afternoon and on the plateau (at the Stรถffelberg summit) I assisted some happy folks at a campfire with a group selfie.
At sunset I was ascending to a higher section of the plateau and got a view of the blood red sun.
Over a narrow forested crest I reached Wackerstein summit and got a nice view of the lights of Reutlingen before descending back into the darkness of life.
Gladsaxe replaced its standard white LED fixtures with specialized red LED streetlights along Frederiksborgvej. The installation was strategically placed near a known bat colony to mitigate the impact of artificial light on the nocturnal ecosystem. https://dailygalaxy.com/2026/03/denmark-switched-to-red-streetlights-gladsaxe-bats/
Denmark Just Switched to Red Streetlights to Solve an Urban Crisis Most Modern Cities Still Ignore

Drivers in Denmark are facing a surreal sight as a primary corridor is suddenly bathed in an intense, unearthly red light.

09/03/2026 - Evening walk after tea. Up and down Millstone Hill in Aberdeenshire. Dark and stars. It clouded over on the way back. Mild this evening.

A little walk on St Catherine's Hill - cold but pleasant. Will definitely return on a warmer Spring day, but hope is growing !
Itโ€™s been a rather warm start of spring and the meadow burst into bloom with red dead-nettle, hairy bittercress, chickweed and lots of daisies #WildflowerHour #SignsOfSpring

Coltsfoots? Coltsfeet? growing out of the crack by an old wall.

A few very early Blackthorn flowers. Others all tightly in bud. A couple of last yearโ€™s sloes can also be seen. #SignsOfSpring #WildflowerHour
