Lichens from my walk yesterday in the hills in Aberdeenshire. The IDs are a bit of guess work. Any corrections are most welcome π
Grey Hair Lichen - Alectoria nigricans.
Alpine Sulphur-Tresses - Alectoria ochroleuca.
Reindeer Lichen - Cladonia rangiferina.
Iceland Lichen - Cetraria.
A few nice things I saw yesterday on my walk in the Ladder Hills in Aberdeenshire.

Dunscombe Bottom, a lowland chalk hillside nature reserve (Wiltshire Wildlife Trust) is bursting with wildflowers now. Common Spotted-orchids everywhere (no photo here). Standouts for me this week were Dropwort, a few Chalk Fragrant-orchids, and Fairy Flax.
14/06/2026 - Afternoon stroll from the house on the quiet back roads. I was proper sleepy today. The wind was a bit windy but it stayed dry. A nice walk. It felt good to move, plodding at a slow pace.
A few snaps of some of the stuff we said hello to on the way round.
Lime leaf-stalk gall midge, every lime tree had these today down the road.
Pellucid hoverfly on cow parsley.
Some sort of diving beetle out of water.
Two-row barley escaped from the field and hiding by the roadside.
