@anon_opin I work from home, but it would be nice to be compensated for my commute when there's heavy traffic on the way.
By which I mean sometimes I have to step over the dog.

@anon_opin I mean, companies can offer to give you a budget for fuel or public transport expenses related to work. We even have that in Romania, it's quite common.

@anon_opin my company thinks it's perfectly fine to require every employee within 100 miles of the office to commute in four days a week. Unpaid, of course. One of my reports would be commuting 5 hours a day without the medical exemption we got for them.

@anon_opin All jobs would suddenly be like some county government jobs where they require you to work in some smallish location. Already employees are often required to live within a certain state because employers don't want to pay out of state taxes. I have no idea how all the incentives and prices would work out. Economics says there will be some unexpected consequence.
