I don't think the UK media have made nearly enough noise about the US Navy sinking an *unarmed* Iranian warship and then, in clear violation of the Geneva Conventions, leaving them to drown.

This is a heinous war crime which the media would be rightly up in arms about if any country that wasn't nominally an "ally" had done it.

@statsguy No need to make the story worse than it is. It was armed. Sinking it in an undeclared war and leaving the survivors without help probably constitutes a war crime anyway, armed or not.

@whvholst @statsguy

Claims they were making arrangements to surrender in port. Were waiting approval.

But that doesn't make go propaganda videos.

The Lack Thereof :v_bi: (@[email protected])

@[email protected] My understanding, cobbled together - the ship was a fully modern warship - the ship had just departed some ceremonial boat show for military boat nerds (high five), where it was being exhibited before the conflict - as part of preparation for that event where civilians could walk around the boat and stuff, it had all ammunition removed and was generally rendered safe to the satisfaction of the organizers. - it wasn't even crewed by the regular duty crew, just a bunch of pr types and whatnot who signed up for this volunteer boat nerd mission (high five again) And here's where details get more sketchy and less trustworthy - when the conflict broke out, they changed course to a nearby friendly port and announced their intention to surrender the ship and crew there - they were waiting for clearance into said harbor when they were torpedoed
